Yes, yes, bloody yes. It was the best year since I've been going (2000). In my humble opinion, they all have balls of steel (even the girls). Better get booking for 2007!

I was there again this year, but I'm holding off on booking for next year until I find out when they're implementing their new, limited NSL.

Was at it for the first time this year and loved it so much I booked next years ferry the same night I got home. Mad Sunday was not all that mad but everything else was just brilliant fun.

Are you kidding? The mountain was closed 3 times for crash-cleanup! From a conversation I had with plod there were 38 crashes resulting in 5 serious injuries (no fatals thankfully)

Best laugh was heading back to Douglas on the Tuesday though. I was fully loaded with luggage, tent, bedroll etc overtaking tucked-in, racing-crouch power rangers over the mountain.

Nope I am definitely not kidding. The first closure was pretty early just as we arrived out of Ramsey. That one took the longest to sort out so we watched some of the Sprints but after that I found most riders incredibly slow when the road was clear.

Don't get me wrong I am no Valentino but 'Mad' it most certainly wasn't. I was passing so many bikes at one point I thought they must know about a hidden speed camera or something. Most couldn't even lean into a corner without panicking and pulling on brakes mid corner and sitting the bike upright.

The only mad riding I saw were two guys on a Foxeye Blade and an old CBR600, stunting and riding like maniacs in obligatory trainers and jeans. The guy on the Blade was brilliant but god he came close to killing himslef a couple of times. On one occasion as he did a stand up wheely past a BMW he let it lean a little to the left. He missed the beemers front bumper by an absolute whisker and I thought he might calm down afterwards. Instead he turned round and laughed and wheelied through the next set of oncoming cars.

So imho Mad Sunday is not mad at all. The accidents are most probably down to poor observation or the odd inexperienced rider biting off more than they can chew.

Good job you weren't overtaking at the time then

See, I think your definition of Mad and mine must be different. It is mad purely because of those riders who continue to ride outwith their limits, causing danger to everyone around them. If you were following a rider around a nice stretch of twisties and they yanked on the anchors, sat up mid-corner and ended up on the other side of the road wouldn't you at least think "mad bugger!"?
