i was rolling my bike back into the garage last night and i noticed a small amount of vibration and a kind of rubbing noise for a split second on each revolution of the wheel, the brake pads still have life in them and the bikes only done just over 3000 miles does anyone have any ideas at all?

could be anything..bikes are noisy as hell with the engine switched off rolling as I found out when coasting down a large hill into a petrol station after running out of fuel on my Gixer...It was suprisingly horrendous..take a peek round the basics..ie chain, axles and brakes..

it is definatly the front end though, i felt a small vibrationcomethrough the bars each time i heard the noise, surely cant be headraces or wheel bearings after 3000 miles?

There's some kind of distortion to the surface of the disk. My suspicion is this is a deposit of material from the pad (we've had a similar discussion going in the Cerbera forum). If you pads have got hot, say from an extended period of spirited use and then the bike is held on the brakes, the hot pads transfer material to the disk. Theory is that this can be removed by repeated hard braking, although you never brake to a stop, you must keep rolling afterwards. Just don't chuck it down the road trying this technique!

Hope that helps,

Steve

would the material be easily visable on the disc?, i will give it a go brakinghard without stopping-trouble is those radial brakes have tremendous stopping power.

It might not be visible. The way most bike calipers work, is that the shape of the hydraulic seal around the piston, pulls it away from the surface of the disc. It only takes a small imperfection in the surface for cause the pad to drag as you rotate the wheel. Do you notice anything when you use the brakes when riding the bike or is it just wheeling it around? If it's the latter I'd be less concerned, if it's the former, call your dealer up and ask them to explain.

Did you clean it last time you used it? My Yams have tended to bind on slightly after washing if tthe disks aren't dry.

i only noticed it when wheelingit into the garage it seems normal when riding, i will try to dislodge whatever has caused it by doing some heavy breaking next time im out and see if that sorts it out, thanks for the advice

If there's no judder when riding, I wouldn't worry about it when riding. The sort of problem I'm talking you'd notice when braking during a ride. I think you may be worrying about nothing, but talk to the dealer about it to make sure.
