Morning all,

Crashed my GSXR last night on a right hand sweeper - too fast going in, locked up the front on some gravel. Ended up riding through a hedge and fell on my front for quite a distance. My neck is grazed quite badly and my hand bruised up but other than that the Crowtree's did a damn fine job.

Gutted and the bike was insured third party being that I'd never crashed before - crazy way to think I know...

The bike looks bad but I don't think the frame or the forks were bent since as it actually slid and didn't hit anything but I'll have to wait and see...

Anyways, looks like my biking is over this year

Rob.

Hopefully you will be able to fix it....

Glad you're ok.

3rd Party insurance. Surely not on an brand new 8k bike ? Bet the next ones fully comp.

Still... far more important things than money in life (as looking at the top picture shows).

Sorry to hear about your bike but I’m glad you walked away with only minor injuries. It could have been so much worse.

Good luck putting the bike back together.

Just to echo the other posts, sorry about your crash, the main thing thing is you are OK. The bike looks a mess, but they can always be repaired.

Sorry to hear that mate....Looks a bad one for your first, but hey, you walked away.
Also sorry to hear about the third party....but I can understand your thinking...Always happens to others right? Hopefully the damage will be mostly cosmetic, but hope you get back up and running asap.

Cheers.

You've done quite a job on that shot2bits! Glad to hear you didn't hit anything of substance...

Whats's the plan now? Fix it up or sell it as it is? You mention not riding again this year - you'll be all fixed in a month or two I reckon, Suzuki bits are pretty easy to come by aren't they?

All the best.

Glad to hear you're alright.

Sobering moment when you think about the possible alternative outcomes, makes you put things in perspective.

Great testament to the value of decent leathers.

Hope the bike is repairable and you recover soon.

Glad to hear you're ok. Shame about the bike, but it can be fixed and I hope you don't mind me saying it's probably best going fully comp next time.......but also on a positive note if you don't cancel your insurance you will have a further years NCB as you're not making a claim.

Thanks again for the replies.

The dealer is collecting the bike this afternoon. Do you think I have made the right decision taking the bike back to the main dealer in light of the fact I'll be paying for repairs myself? Perhaps a more generic bike repair business might be cheaper? Just worried I'll be paying top price for the parts and labour...

My bike is at Plantec at the moment, was not sure who they were but there has been some good reviews in the magazines.

Am pretty sure they do the repair too.

You could try to source certain parts yourself like bodywork, subframe, clocks (if needed), lights and any other parts from somewhere like ebay or breakers yards and try to agree with the dealer that you may do that especially as you are paying yourself. The dealer will in all honesty pull your pants down for the price of new replacement parts.

You could be looking at quite a large bill looking at the damage sustained to the bike. Try to do some research for parts on the net as soon as you can before you get the dealer to pick it up, you never know you could save yourself quite a few quid.

Good luck.

Good advice, thanks... The bike has gone to the dealer now (AA so didn't cost) - will get a quote in a few days. Will let you all know the damage

Sorry to hear about the accident,Glad your ok.If nothing is bent bodywork and other bits and pieces are easy to replace yourself just take your time and phone around for the best prices.I found D & K have got a good stock of parts and are helpful. Also I can't remember the number but there are companies advertised where you give them the part no's and they getin touch with dealers or suppliers or breakers and find out the best prices etc. Some breakers also have new bikes in just to break them ,so its still new parts but cheaper than a dealer.Good luck Chris
