Triumph Daytona 4 cylinder
Discussion
An acquaintance of mine is moving abroad and is selling his K reg Daytona for about £1,300 (half price he says, it has done a genuine 11,000 miles. This model is different, i.e. it is a 1000cc 4 cylinder model and was produced in 1992/93. I can not find any reference to this bike on the Web or elsewhere. So does anyone know where I can find the information, and its track history/reliability. Is it suitable for someone like me who is getting near pension age, short legs, and has not had a great deal of experience with large bikes (ridden honda 250s off and on). The chap selling it is a very good motor engineer, and says the bike is in tip top condition.
Hope someone out there can help

Jon,
The 1000cc was only produced in very small numbers early in the T300 model life cycle and was subsequently superceeded by the 1200cc engine and consequently is fairly unloved as it doesn't have the power of the 1200cc or the character of the 900cc.
It's a similar story with the underpowered 750cc triple.
The larger 1200cc engine has been known to suffer from cooling issues when compared to the 900cc triples as they used the same radiators.
The 1000cc is more of an unknown quantity as there were fewer ever made, but the block is the same as the 1200cc. The rest of the running gear, etc is all modular and was interchanged between different models.
If you have short legs, I'd give the bike a test ride before you buy. All the T300 series bikes are known to be top heavy, especially with 5 gallons of petrol in the tank.
