I know what i'd do and that is get it MOT'd tomorrow and hope it passes just to show it was a slip of the memory and take the tax with you when you produce your doc's.....and the best of luck mate

I did the same as you and ran about without an MOT on the bike (only for 3 days) until I checked the paperwork and had a major brown trouser moment! I did google search for, 'no MOT' but without much luck, I believe it's nothing like as serious as no insurance and is only a small fine plus no points. As said above get one asap.

Agreed with the other posters. Get it done quickly and produce the paperwork. Sometimes you're unlucky, I got stopped (at 30 moh in heavy traffic) on the M1, for not having a tax disc. The car was 12 months and a week old, so clearly I'd not had a reminder. One offcier was fine, the other a to55er. Poor public relations as that's the field I work in! Good luck, Dave

As long as you have an MOT when you show your docs with the producer, you should be OK. Worth a post in the 'speeding, plod & the law' forum though.

if you get an MOT now - and dont attract attention to the fact that you have just got it - when you are at plods house - he/she might not notice!!

Dont draw attention to it - you might be ok!

Getting the MOT sorted PDQ has to be the best way. If plod spots that the dates on your docs dont quite add up you can always play the "As soon as I realised my mistake I was horrified and sorted it out as soon as I could" card.

You could get lucky - I got tugged on the A65 for having too small a plate. I played the "is the plate too small? I didn't know (fib) but I only got it from the dealer last week (true)" card but still came out £30 the poorer. That said, despite him checking my exhausts were legal he failed to spot I didn't have any tax disc on display . I had bought a new disk but not put it in the holder. Only realised my good fortune when I got home.

Good luck

have had 2 tax disks stolen whilst leaving my bike in london. each replacment disk cost me £7.
Now I leave my tax disk at home safe with my documents. Ive been stopped a few times, and 99% of coppers are sympathetic to the problems of havign stuff taken from a bike.

If questioned, I usually tell them its on the rear footpeg "oh, no wait ..." it was there officer, check on your database.. you will see its all present and correct.

Be polite, and they normally let me ride on.
