Rossi beats Hondas for incredible Sachsenring win.

MotoGP world champion Valentino Rossi has taken one of his greatest victories after beating a trio of charging Hondas by 0.3secs following 30 laps of non-stop Sachsenring action.

Rossi came into the race having qualified just eleventh on the grid after suffering handling problems with his Camel Yamaha, but a fast start and aggressive first lap saw him climb to sixth - by which time world championship leader Nicky Hayden was leading the field, having passed both Kenny Roberts Jr and pole sitter Dani Pedrosa in a brave move at the bottom of the hill.

Hayden continued to hold a narrow lead during the early stages, while Rossi's advance faltered and he had gained only one further position - passing Roberts Jr for fifth - by lap eight. But Roberts was part of a more significant incident three laps later when the American made an ill-judged lunge inside Makoto Tamada at the final turn.

A great race. Well done Vale'

Do you think he can still do it? If he continues with the amazing determination he has shown over the last few races it must be possible.

Did you see the slides he was doing on the FIRST lap....

All done on a track he hates, and Hayden loves. Will give Ross a huge lift, and fill him with confidence for this weekends US GP. If he can stay injury/accident free, I think it's a done deal. All of them are amazing though.... 250bhp on a 150kg machine...I'd come off the back after 100yds!

Why do people go on about pedrosa's personality? I can't believe anyone on here knows him for starters so to suggest that this young guy is personality free compared to the guys who are more experienced in motogp or simply less shy is a stupid assumption and secondly who gives a shit, this isn't a woman's magazine. He's a brilliant motorcycle racer.

True. However he is the type of racer that if all he needed to do was finish 4th in a race would do just that. Even if he was capable of winning. Which makes him ever so slightly dull.

Was a fantastic race..
I couldnt say who i thought would win up until they crossed the line..
A real nail biter..

Regardless on what you think of Rossi he certainly makes Moto GP a great sport to watch.

(I washed the bike while F1 was on and nipped back in to see how Shuey was getting on from time to time!)

Tis a shame...I used to be really into it, but I'd rather watch repeats of ther Moto GP than a live F1 race...

the f1 simply isnt interesting. its not down to the driver really its down to who everys car suits the circuit the bestest. i used to really enjoy it but now the qualifying is too confusing and the racing too dull

moto gp is by far the most exciting form of motorsport there hasnt been one dull race this season

Moto GP, WSB, BSB - all are far better than the boring dross served up by F1 IMHO.
Rossi must p*ss the other racers off so much - qualifying way down the grid and then 2nd and 1st in consecutive races with the crowds going bonkers for him and ignoring the others. He is a God though ....

There is an underlying theme to this thread. Rossi has decided to stay in Moto GP. Fantastic. Pedrosa is (Although an amazing motorcycle racer)as boring as a bucket of sand.

So lets export Pedrosa to F1 and they can all be boring together.

I appreciate what you're saying about Pedrosa, but I think Moto GP is a better place for having him there....he has fantastic ability.

The same for Stoner.....Have you seen how old the guy looks....could pass as 16 easily!!

stoner isnt much more than 16 is he??

as for pedrosa - hes a tiny midget on an insaine bike and hes mixing it with deitys like rossi. hes going to feel a bit intimidated.

Moto GP is truely an incredible sport rossi is totally dominant at the top of that there is no doubt, the sport almost revolves around him. how ever afew year ago when shumacher was dominating f1 it became dull. moto gp simly never has even if you know that rossi will win he will do it in such style and class its a wonder to watch

and if you've listened to Julian Rider (the commentator for Eurosport) he's been plugging this lad for years....forget Rossi, Pedrosa _is_ the future of the sport......

I've not really found Pedrosa to be boring and defo not on the track.

If you want boring and we're also including F1 in this thread - please see Nigel (monotone) Mansell or 'Damien' (I can't win a champ' even in the best car) Hill

The thing is, Rossi has a certain flamboyance and charisma that makes people want to see him win, and that's on top of massive technical ability. Pedrosa is an extremely talented rider but he's a machine.

Think of it as Rossi being a drunken game of poker with the cast of Pulp Fiction and Pedrosa being a fruit machine.
