So the blade has now passed to it's new owner, and a lucky man he is too. It was a fantastic bike.

But what next? Here's the rub. I've done less than 1,000 miles per year on the blade - mostly getting to/from track days (and of course hooning around the circuit). I just couldn't justify the insurance expense any more, when I realised cost per mile was probably higher than a Bentley!

I'm used to bigger bikes, and have previously owned a Thunderace, Ducati Monster 900 and a ZX-9R. Going to a 600/750 feels like going 'back', if you know what I mean. But I'd like to be convinced otherwise as the insurance is healthier.

Anyone else traded down to a smaller capacity? Or any of you 600/750 riders can tell me why your bike is better - while still being cheaper to insure? What would you recommend for around £3k.

Thanks

mel

An ex race bike.

£3k should get you a well sorted few years old 600 with spares and if you really only do trackdays it would be the best thing oh and a trailer. The road has had its day get on circuit.

Thanks for the link mel. Good idea about a track-only bike. It's a bit nerve-racking to buy a track bike - aren't most of them ex-mashed up road bikes? Should track bikes still have a V5 document?

What would you look for?

Thanks
