Just bought a Honda CBR125R.

Been agonising over what to do, 125 + L plates for a while or DAS and straight to big bike but I have decided to go the 125 + L plates for a while. I can always do my test on a loaner big bike from the school anyway and this gives me a chance to get used to a bike whilst not under the beady eye of an instructor (which makes me nervous anyway ).

It is a cute little thing so here's a pic (bad camera phone pic warning!)

I pick it up next Saturday

Any recommendations re insurance?

Good luck with the bike mate and enjoy it.

Re: Insurance
The companies that get mentioned allot on here are:

Insurance 2000 (H&R)
Honda
Bennetts
ebike

Shop around but make sure you are comparing like for like and check to see if helmet and other stuff is cover. I wasn't!!!

Well as I am quite diddy too (5'6" and fairly skinny) I should be ok on it! There was another woman in the showroom choosing a 125 as well. She was about 5'10" but she looked (quite frankly) a bit silly on it, even though she was very slim as well. She eventually chose an Aprilla 125 which she looked fab on. I couldn't touch the floor on that one

It looks a lovely bike. Another good broker is Carole Nash.

Thanks for the suggestions chaps, however Carole Nash did not have an online quote system and I needed to get it done asap.

I went with Devitt at £219 (fully comp with personal accident cover and legal cover and £200 compulsory excess). Checked the policy docs of all the quotes I got and they were no different to anyone else. Next best was Bennetts at £297 with no optional cover.

After returning to biking some 7 years ago, I found that the most competitive quotes come from Carole Nash and Motorcycle Direct. I've swapped between the two each year cos they keep offering better quotes at renewal. This year, for the first time ever, I paid less than I did the year before and for a greater level of cover. £185 fully comp protected bonus with all the legal costs, breakdown cover and pillion cover too...bargain. That's for a CCM R30 Supermoto (the Suzuki engined version) but then again, I'm an old git and I've had my bike licence about 20 years.
