Found out about this on another forum.

Perhaps we ought to give this gentleman some feedback on his blog. I suspect that polite responses would make more of a difference.

Basically, he'd like to see bikes banned from national parks

I just replied to his blog:

I am sure you feel you are well intentioned BUT!

Is it not about time that public servants got on with the job they are paid to do - in your case restore a bit of confidence in the police service and instill a bit oof fear into the yobs and criminal classes. I do not know what you are thinking off anyway taking weekends off when there is so much unsolved crime stacked up in your areas in-tray'.

I am getting a little bit fed up of the way this great nation of ours seems to have progressed from a world beating attitude of doing and achieving to a nation of whinging, whining and hopeless rabble who look to see what they can stop other people doing.

Get off your soapbox and do the work you are being paid handsomely to do on our behalf. Note the 'do' bit.

What a tt.

Just replied with this....

'It's interesting to see your stance on motorcycles which matches Brunstroms public battle against motorists. As a sports car driver and motorcyclist I am dissappointed by your attitude. Are you next going to look at banning caravans because they clog up the roads (maybe the cause of some of the high revving bikes trying to get past and continue their journey)? What about jet skis or motorboats for causing pollution, noise as well as fossil fuels. What about hillwalkers and the trash that is left behind on our countryside?
Most hillwalkers, boat users, caravanners are responsible and courteous but should we ban everyone because of a minority. Using your reasoning it appears we should.
Instead of targetting generally law abiding citizens who just happen to inconvenience you when you are on holiday, why don't the police do something to fix the lack of public confidence in their ability to catch criminals and serve out justice to those who deserve it?
And before you ask, no I do not have any driving convictions despite our current governments' best efforts against petrol loving motorists.'

For what good it will do

I'm not a motorcyclist (yet), but I think we can safely say he isn't. He's probably whining about them changing gear or something.

A sad and worrying view from someone who should ‘know better’. Unfortunately, this is not an uncommon view amongst many.

While I think it will make no difference I have posted the following reply:

While I wholeheartedly support the freedom for any individual to hold and express any personal beliefs they may have I find it frightening that a senior police officer can and has published such views via an officially sanctioned police blog.

If the motorcyclists described in the blog are in some way breaking the law, then they should be dealt with in accordance with the law, as should any and all other users of National parks who break the law. However, the concept of banning a minority group undertaking a perfectly legal past time simply because you happen to feel they encroach on your enjoyment is at best selfish and at worst down right discriminatory.

As a law abiding, tax paying citizen of the UK I, like many, feel that the police have a serious public relations issue to resolve with regards to the majority of the public and in particular the motoring public. The publication of such blinkered and selfish views from a senior police officer, via an officially sanctioned medium, does nothing to restore public confidence and in fact, simply reinforces the view that the police more interested in frustrating motorists/motorcyclists than in ‘catching real criminals’.

I would ask that, in order to reassure myself and other law abiding motorcyclists, you immediately publish, via the official blog, a clear statement that it is not an official police position to suggest the banning of motorcycles from National Parks. Additionally, I feel you should also issue a clear apology for suggesting such discrimination against a law abiding minority group.

The unfortunate part of this is that had you suggested that otherwise law abiding minority groups should be banned from the national parks because their gender/race/religion/colour/sexual orientation interfered with your personal enjoyment, you would likely be subject to legal proceedings. However, while what you have published is not illegal, discrimination is still discrimination!

I think we can stop worrying about this cretin.

I recall an earlier snafu from his recent past - read it here:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/wales/nort

I should imagine he has zero credibility in any circle of influence.

This gets worse - apparently there are whole websites devoted to capturing some of the stooopid things these overpaid uniformed pricks have to say:

Quote: Clive Wolfendale, deputy CC of North Wales Police, is clearly after his moronic boss' job. Wolfie has said that drinking is a greater threat to the country than terror. Let's test this by strapping him to first a bottle of Guinness and then a bomb, and see which one does the most damage. I volunteer to set the bomb off.Unquote

Is it worth posting a link to this thread in general gassing? After all once they have got rid of bikes next step is sports cars.

I think even non bikers would be dissmayed to see such discriminatory views from someone so high up.
