Just wondering what peoples thought's are regarding Rossi taking the championship this season, is he too far behind now in the points?

MotoGP driver standings (after 11 of 17 races):

1. Nicky Hayden (US) Honda 194 pts
2. Dani Pedrosa (Spain) Honda 160
3. Marco Melandri (Italy) Honda 150
4. Valentino Rossi (Italy) Yamaha 143
5. Loris Capirossi (Italy) Ducati 126
6. Casey Stoner (Australia) Honda 91
7. Colin Edwards (US) Yamaha 84
8. Kenny Roberts (US) KV211V 79
9. J Hopkins (US) Suzuki 74
10. Shunya Nakano (Japan) Kawasaki 67

James Ellison tips Nicky Hayden to take the title as he is now 34 pionts clear of his nearest rival.

No, I think Heydon can only lose it. Even if Rossi wins every race, which is very possible if he can learn to qualify in a decent position, Heydon just needs to keep scoring and it's in the bag..... I hope he does though, dunno why, I just think he's the guv'nor.

Still mathematically possible, but I think it's unlikely now. He's had too much bad luck/bike unreliability. However I can't see him giving up. Brno this weekend, can't wait!

Channel 410 on Sky. Next race, I believe, is the 20th. Go to MOTOGP.com or something, and It'll all be on there.

Haydon has never, and will never, (IMO) be able to beat Rossi in a fair and square fight.
He had the chance at the last race of the year last year, and just could not do it.

As far as Rossi "learning to qualify", its more a case of Yam making the chassis that can cope with the latest qualifiers from michelin.

Haydon will be champ, but coz Rossi/Yam LOST it, not coz he WON it.

Can but won't. Hayden is too consistent (boring?!) and Honda / Michelin are too reliable.

I would struggle to put Hayden and boring in the same sentence. The guy can ride a bike (mostly sideways)!! I take nothing away from Rossi mind you. Put them both at the sharp end of a race and I believe that Rossi would have Hayden beaten on sheer psychology alone.

As for the championship, a lot can happen in six races and Marco and Dani are both within striking distance and both very capable. It has the recipe for a great season end!!

Let's just wait and see, eh?!?
