Three friends of mine have K5 GSXR thou's and all have put Michelin Pilot Power 2CT's on the bikes and it has transformed the handling. I'm on my second set of the 2CT's on my 2005 R1 and I'll be hard pushed to try anything else at the moment, another frfiend has put the 2CT's on his 05 R1 and he said the same thing, the bike is transformed.

Wear rate is superb, I tend to stretch out my tyres as I do so many miles but The Diablo Corsa I used to run were good for about 4500 - 5000 miles max and the Michelin I got 7500 miles out of before they were knackered. One of the guys who had the BT014's on his GSXR changed his after 2000 miles but he has had his Michelins on for 2000 miles with hardly any wear.
I'd say the Michelin Pilot Power 2CT's are a very good tyre and miles better than the BT014 and the old Diablo Corsa (don't know about the Diablo Corsa III).
Cheers,
Andy.

I have my K6 booked in on Saturday for a pair of the new Corsa III's to replace the stock BT014's... Will let you know how they perform but all the mags reckon they offer decent grip on both the road and track... Interested to know more about the way you feel the bike handles - I think mine is better on the tighter corners than at high speed - have to really shove the bars when pressing on which wasn't the case with my older 600...
Edit to say the bike has only 2200 miles and 600 were running in - not lasted too long but then the Gixxer gives them loads of stick under hard acceleration...

We swapped out our original Diablo Corsas prior to our France Hoon and my 2CTs lasted better than my friends Corsa IIIs. He was always concerned with the amount of grip available at full lean whereas the 2CTs (again) transformed the bike in comparison to the originals and had no issues at extreme lean. My friend runs a re-geared GSXR750-K5 by the way and I have the 05 Blade.
I have now done 2000 miles on the 2CTs, but sadly due to silly amounts of uni-cycling and autoroute top end runs, the rear has flat spotted.
All I can say is that any tyre replacements in the future will be for the Michelins. My frined has gone back to the Super Corsas for his Gixer. I rode his bike after we got back from the trip and the front Corsa III carcass had warped (34° through the Pyrenees) causing some weird front end feeling. It would turn in to a bend and then just stop leaning. On fast sweepers the bike would vibrate very badly. It seems our faith in the latest Pirelli offering has been reduced.
Also the 2CTs have a steeper profile (even though the same tyre 190/50), this assists in overcoming the slow steering nature of the Blade.

Now I'm undecided - 2CT's or Corsa III's?
Veetwin - surely there must have been something wrong with that actual Corsa III tyre for it to become warped?
How long have the 2CT's been out and can they compete with the softer shoulders of the new Corsa III's in terms of grip?
Not too late to change my mind!
Rob.
Edit to say that the 2CT's do have the softer compound on the shoulders.

The possible reasoning behind the tyre warping could be that we were riding 400 miles per day over five days in July through the Pyrenees at temperatures up to 34°C. We did a fair few top end runs (clock stopped at 299kph and revs rose for another 800rpm)[PRIVATE FRENCH RUNWAY] and braking from that could have over-heated his front carcass on the Corsa III. Lets also bear in mind that big Dave weighs 16 stone and I weigh 11 on the Blade, that may have something to do with it!!!
I used to swear by the Corsas (Old), but due to the quicker turn-in of the 2CTs, I have been changed. If they stopped making 2CTs tomorrow I would be back on Corsas, without a doubt.
My advice is to try them both. Run the Corsa III's until spring, do a track day to completely waste them in April and then change to 2CTs for the summer?

The Michelin Pilot Power 2CT is a dual compound tyre with the edge of the tyre being softer than the centre of the tyre. The 2CT's have been out since late April beginning of May this year. I have spoke with a Pirelli rep who said the Diablo Corsa III was made to compete with the 2CT and he couldn't believe how good the wear rate was on my 2CT's. I had just covered 2,500 miles on a trip to the Alps and even he said the tyres looked like they had hardly been touched and we were not hanging about on those very flowing Alpine roads.
The grip the 2CT's afford especially on the edge of the tyre is superb, they instill so much more confidence than the old Diablo Corsa (I haven't tried the Corsa III) that I would not go back to the Pirellis for some time.
Try the 2CT's, I guarantee you will not be disappointed and they will transform your bike.

You've convinced me!
Phoned up for a quote on the 2CT's... The Corsa III's were £230 inc fitting...
Rob.
Edit to say, quoted £220 for the 2CT's(normally £210 but I wanted them quick) - getting the 2CT's fitted tomorrow based on your comments here

You won't regret it. A caveat: make sure you run the recommended manufacturer pressures!! They put too little in mine on fitment and I had the head shaking on hard acceleration; even with the HESD!! I run 34 front and 40 rear on the Blade, I drop these for track work.
Would the pressures for my Bridgestones be the same for the 2CT's as they're the same size?

I use 36 front and 40 rear for the 2CT's
