Pirelli Diablo Superbike's ? Seen them for £182 pair (for 06 R6 sizes)

Meztler Racetec's

I'm putting Pirella Supercorsa Pro SC's on mine next week, which are track biased whilst being road legal.

Why -- the chassis and suspension are setup to use Road/Track orientated tyres ... unless its running aftermarket suspension or has been tuned for slicks theres no point. A good trackday tyre (Racetec, SuperCorsa Pro) will work just as well/better and will work much better if its cool/damp.

unless you get a 'trackday' slick, you'll have to be careful as slicks can get greasy when they go through too many heat cycles. A race slick does not have the same carcass construction as a roadbased tyre, such as the pirelli SC slick. You need to be sure of exactly what you're buying in terms of compound, etc. To be honest, you are better off with Racetec K0/K1s. They are a lot more predictable if you're not used to riding on slicks, and are able to take more heat cycles.

You need to ride hard on a slick to make it work to keep the heat in the carcass.

Which group does your mate plan to ride in? As an aside, most UK race series are run on 'supersport' based tyres, not slicks. Have a look at the lap times some of the guys are doing, them decide if you need to buy (expensive) slicks. Don't ever buy 2nd hand slicks, you rarely know what your getting.

good luck.

Er i think you'll find the bike setup is more track biased, i had to alter all of the settings on my 06 R6 to get it right for the road , they are just too stiff, and slower speed turnin not as sharp as its setup for higher track speeds. Since altering my settings the bike is far far better on road, but no doubt that for track id be pretty much reversing my tweeks.

I run the michelin 2cts which ar eexcellent and i reckon theyd be ideal for track use too. Maybe not slick but really grippy.
