I'm starting to hanker after a set of two-piece leathers. The old commuting textiles just don't give the right 'impression', when out for a blast (if you know what I mean...) :-)

My local bike shop doesn't have a great selection, would the forthcoming bike show at hte NEC be a good place to hunt down some cowhide? I'm bigger than the average bear - a '60' sized REV-IT leather jacket was 'snug' !!!!!!

cheers

Yes! but try and decide which brand your after or at least several brands and check out the prices on websites. I have found that shows do not always = lower prices.

Suggest you get a proper set made by Crowtree, Hideout or BKS if you can afford to. Failing that pay close attention to the quality of the leather and how the seams are made.

J,
Haven't been to NEC yet (going this year) but I got some at the Ally Pally show, which is supposed to be TINY in comparison. I'd definately wait, or just get a bargain on ebay for the time being?

A bum basic set of Crowtrees can be less than an off the peg set yes

Can properly vouch for the service offered by Hideout. Really, really nice people and excellent work.

Here here! Shows are also a means for the unscrupulous to offload a bunch of tat. Do your research so you know what your getting - are a bargain set of leathers worth it if a seam on your leathers bursts wide open when you need the most?

If you've got a Hein Gerricke near you then they may be doing the same offer as the one in Reading. They had their tribal 2 piece suits (got a good rating in ride a few years ago) for £200.

Mark

I have a one piece from Crowtree - only collected them a few days before my crash... Got up, walked away - say no more!

I went to NEC and Ally Pally in 2005. Although NEC is undoubtedly bigger - for leathers, helmets, gloves etc - Ally Pally had better deals.

At least in 2005 they did.

Ally Pally next year is going to be at the Excel in Docklands (probably easier to get to on public transport). I cannot make it as I will be skiing.
A mate of mine who is 6ft 5 got leathers made to measure at the NEC a couple of years ago and is delighted with them. Funnily enough, I will be going to the NEC for a textile suit ...
