Selling a bike privately
Discussion
I'm selling my moped and I'm wondering what I should do if a buyer wants a test ride. My concern is that a buyer might damage it or steal it. The ideal situation would be if the buyer leaves the full asking price in cash with me, but I don't know if people would be happy to do that. Have anyone here ever done that? Is it a common practice?
If the buyer has comprehensive insurance then I needn't worry about what would happen if they damage the bike but it would be no use if they steal it. I could follow them in my car but might they be offended by that?
Any suggestions?

Yes, do this and make it clear when people phone up. If you aren't happy doing that then trade it in.wedg1e said:

Don't forget that if you let someone ride it who isn't insured you commit an offence.
Merely drawing breath is getting close to being an offence in this place. What's life without a few risks?

Fair point... though I'd have thought it should be fairly obvious that here in Nannystatesville, the paperwork is more important than the activity it covers.
