Crashed at Snetterton...

OK, crashed again - 2nd time this year but the first crash on the track... I was doing great, realy good pace up and worked out that the next session I'd ask to be moved up because I was way quicker than 99% of the beginners. Feeling on top of the world...
Then... the rear slid out on one of the right handers - they'd already covered up a spill on that very corner... The bike low sided, I did a few forward rolls - sparks everwhere as the exhaust and pegs scraped the ground... The handle bar snapped clean off...
Just cannot afford to keep this up and seriously wondering what to do next... Wait til next year or fix it now... The annoying thing is that this time it wasn't really my fault - I reckon there was something on the track...
Having to type this real fast as I'm off out - will post some pics later...

Glad you're OK, sorry about the bike, but its only cash.
I suspect this is where wiser heads than mine will explain exactly how much to budget for things like this over a year of trackdays, so that it doesnt hurt quite so much. On the other hand, how much to hire a trackday bike, with the excess? If you're still up on that, you're not doing too badly, eh?

Assuming you already knew about a spill on the corner, did that not make you think to take a different line or take things steady.
It seems all too easy to blame something on the track for a mistake (not saying it isn't the case in this instance), when infact a little common sense would avoid the incident.
Crashes are bound to happen do don't worry you're self too much, just try & work out why it happened & how you are going to stop it happening again.

Cheers all... Got some bids in on ebay - winter now so no massive hurry... Thinking about it, I reckon they hadn't covered up all of the spill on the track, I was unlucky to hit some - the back wheel feels greasy... Will never know for sure... Makes you think about the public road - what if you lost the rear and ended up on the other side with oncoming traffic

Which is why you feel safe enough to push it beyond the road limits when you're on a track..
Sure. I wasn't anywhere nr the limit though... Will slow me up on the road, that's for sure...

The Esses...
Snetterton has an issue with heating up the LHS of the tyre too..not sure if it was the left...? ..the faster and quicker you are ,the higher the chance of coming off as your nearer the limit more of the time...If your reluctant to cut down on track days..perhaps it`s time to get race fairings and crash bobbins...proper track day rubber is handier in that enviornment than road rubber too..going really fast needs a tool that can take a fall without taking it to heart..levers and clip on`s are the bread and butter repairs of spills..cheap in comparison to replacing O.E fairings and cracked cases that have eaten gravel..

It was a right hander - one of the guys said that cars will leave aluminium behind on that corner as they bottom out making things slippy for bikes...
