so last night on embankment, stationary traffic, nowhere to go so I sit tight, cant be arsed to pick my way through the very tight traffic with the scooter boys.

aware of car behind me that wont stop creeping closer & closer & actually trying to come slightly past me, even though I am in the middle of the lane & nowhere to go.

Next thing I know, feel a fairly hard nudge/scraping noise on my right. Managed to hold bike up, car is jammed into me.

Turn around & unleash some words unsuitable for children. Guy & his wife sat in the car just staring at me, no response at all. I tell him to f'ing back up so I can get off his car, no response. So gently rode forwards off the car, more scraping noise.

Result, no damage to bike whatsoever but a bloody massive scrape/gouge out of his car from my footpeg. I hope he felt sick when he saw it, pr1ck!

rant over.

Mate, what a wally.

With hindsight, don't you wished you'd put the stand down and had a word? It really grinds me...These car drivers, that refuse to relinquish that 30cm, "You're not getting in front of me"......Yes, Yes I am , watch. I'll be out of sight in 10 seconds......What's your problem? What have you 'lost'

Sorry, I'm ok now.......

That is totally out of order mate. I would have stopped my bike and ohhh I cant imagine what i would have done but it would have taken alot of my will power to stop me from pulling the guy from his car and smacking him.

Did you take a note of his reg?

If so I would report him to your insurance company and say that he has damaged your bike. Ar** Holes like that shouldnt have a bloody license.

Well done at keeping your temper from over flowing I dont know if I would have been able too.

I did pull over about 25 metres ahead & check the bike over, I knew I would have enough time to check it & get his number if there was any damage as he was held up in the traffic.

I did think about taking it further but as there was no damage or injury then thought no point, creating more hassle for myself in the long run.

he looked like the type of bloke who had potential to get nasty so didnt especially want to go down that route.

Hopefully the damage to his car will make him think next time, although to be honest I doubt it will.

Might be worth getting some advice off the SP&L forum to see if it’s worth reporting. What you don’t want to happen is for the car driver to get home, see the damage then report that you hit him and rode off. The first thing you would know would be plod wanting to ask you about failing to stop at an accident.

I've had similar things a few times over the past few years in London. The worst being old white coloured volvo 440 whos driver (who appeared to be of African origin) just moved into my lane coming up to a set of south london traffic lights while I was in it. His front wing hit my footpeg crunch and he slowly continued to run his car against it squashing my boot/leg. I less than politely asked him what he was doing and he just looked at me and said nothing, he obviously spoke no english and as soon as the light went green he quickly drove off. Luckily the boot did it job and protected me and there was no damage to my bike apart from some white paint on the footpeg. His wing was nicely dented and scraped though but he didn't care. The car/driver most prob has no license/tax/mot/insurance and at a guess was probably not even supposed to be in the UK. I personally didn't see the point in reporting it due to little chance of the police being able or being even bothered to trace the driver.

Craig, glad you and the bike are ok.

I guess it does have some merit when you filter to the front of a queue, as you've then got 2 boxes protecting you from this type of thing!

I had a similar thing sitting on my Busa(not an indistinctive unnoticeable bike i would think)headlight on,im 6ft 4,i was sat on the bike with it running leaning over to post a letter at a pillar box at the edge of the pavement, car parked about three foot in front of me,starts coming back towards me,oh he'll see me,keeps coming,he's bound to stop now! Then i get this sinking feeling, this s not going to stop!He proceeded to reverse right into me,huge crunching noise as the over hanging front mudguard on the Busa gets it first, more sickening crunching,he keeps reversing! My feet are going ten to the dozen trying to find an emergency reverse gear of my own,he still keeps going!I'm like christ, doesn't he feel me yet?Complete divvy!Although i will say this much for him though, gave me the cash that night to fix it,which was nice as there was a crack in it anyway where someone had left a disc lock on before!

not as bad as this but i also had an annoying experience in london yesterday, a woman in her 80s with incredibly thick glasses that could still see all pulled out of one lan without looking or indicating, banged on her window quite hard that soon woke her up

I recently had a guy pull into my lane in a huge Range Rover at a round about, I reved my engine very loudly and he stopped just before hitting me only to open his window and shout abuse at me for being in his lane. WTF I was almost stopped. Ths was all from a guy who was on his phone with no lights on just as it was getting dark and it was peeing down. I pointing out those points politly (yeah right!!!) and he wheel spun off like a mad man.

Its always worth reporting incidents where drivers don't stop. If they go past some BiB with ANPR it should flag them up and they'll get done for whatever documents they haven't got.

I got my mirror clipped by a Jag on Bayswater Road...he failed to stop; he gave me a v-sign, but I have a digital photo of his numberplate and I embarassed him with very loud shouting in Queensway. I nearly always carry a digital camera and would recommend others to do the same.

A bit OTT isn't it? And why do it by letter?

I've had this a couple of times and both times have made a point of stopping, getting off bike and talking to the driver. Most drivers have a certain air of immunity that the security of the car gives them, once you're standing next to their window in stationary traffic it vanishes immediately and you can get your apology.

I had an escort van delibratley nudge me while I was on a roundabout a few years back. Leading up to it he had pulled out in front of me (close) then just sat at the roundabout for no reason (I didn't filter as I didnt trust him) then as I was turning off the roundabout he swerved over and hit me with the left front corner of the van-- to his horror I didn't fall off and promptly caught him and blocked him in. As he was trying to drive off/ over the bike I reached in and ripped his keys out of the ignition and lobbed them. He just sat there starring into space - that wound me up more and i punched the out of his van and was starting to loose it. At that point plod on his way home from work pulled up, calmed things down a bit and called on duty plod. They were ok but did say I would have been better off not stopping him and getting his plate as they then could have done him for failure to stop. As it is depite having a witness and months and months of trying it still went 50/50....wanker.
