Discussion
Hey there, I'm new to PistonHeads...
Looking for some comments/advice really - I got my full licence a couple of years ago now but was a bit unlucky with my first bike (VFR400) which I tried to use as my only transport but it was really unreliable
I got put off by using a bike to commute because of finding somewhere to put my leathers and so on, and so I haven't ridden since August last year. Also I lost touch with all my old biker buddies but I've been toying with the idea of having a bike for occaisonal use - does anybody else do this and recommend it??

What would you recommend as a cheapish, cheap to insure beginner sports?
Hi there,
Well you were extremely unlucky with your VFR being unreliable as normally they are really tough..
Being a bit personal, how tall are you? A friend of mine had a Kawasaki ZXR400 and she loved it. Used it more than the car.. Its quite light and very forgiving and looks very smart. They can be picked up for good money.
Another light and forgiving bike, is a Suzuki SV650. Its a twin which gives it a bit more character in the noise department. Slightly less sports orientated than the ZXR but more torque so less gear changes..
Either of those take your fancy?
cheers,
Nick
I have an SV and agree it was pretty cheap to insure, for me it was 1/3rd of the price of the ss600s! I quite like the look of them though:
