I thought about putting this in the SAT NAV Thread but since oit's a device for bikes thought I would ask here first.

www.garmin.com/products/zumo/

The unit allows you to use an SD card sharing routes and storing MP3's so it suggests that this is not used to store the maps. Can anyone tell me whether or not this unit uses solid state memory or a hard disk to store the maps?

Cheers

I can only tell you that on installation Tom Tom asks you where you want to store your maps and allows you to 'change' maps from a menu, so a Secure Digital card can be used, but the software is well encrypted, so even though you might think moving the SD card will work, it probably wont as when it's saving the maps it uses the Device ID that the map was saved onto. They're not daft. HTH.
