Riding through the country lanes this am (06:00) and couldn't see a thing. Was most embarrassed when the VAN I was following disappeared into the darkness.....22mph I was doing, instead of the usual 45-50!

It was definately fog, and not just a misted up visor again?

Lots of shite in the air today on my way in. My visor is definitely in need of a clean before the journey home. Been wondering about the merits of riding in fog - increased risk of not being seen. What say you folks?

I think it's more bloddy damgerous than heavy rain, or anything else I've so far encountered. Thinking about taking to long war round in the mornings, to try and avoid the most of it.

Dunno where in Essex you are, but we had freezing fog around ours and although I don't leave until 6.30 the temperature was minus one. And now the roads have been treated they feel so greasy it made for a truly unpleasant ride in.

I'm in Billericay mate and at 0700 this morning it was reading -.08c Not quite -1c but close enough. Chilli lives just across the road from me so I was surprised when he had heavy fog and I had nothing 1.5 hours later especially since it was probably still arounbd the zero mark.

Heated vest was lllooovvveeerrrlllyyy!! laugh

Even I'm pussying out of riding at the moment, no the simple premise that I have 0% faith in any other road user.

Bit foggy on the M4 this morning, and cold, but it was fine! Roads being greasy at the moment are actually quite fun! On my little yammy XT if I give it beans round corners you can get some pretty cool (albeit very small and amateur) supamoto type slides! On the gravel road down to my house its cool as well as its so pot holed that big wheelies out the holes are easy and you can really get it moving around... Quite enjoying the weather, I really prefer the winter!

Visor-o-meter says less shite was in the air today. Thumbs up for that, but none the less, it was a crap ride until I got into town, where the mist duly lifted. Rode the last part of the journey with a TL thou'. Nice sound but the rider was taking it very easy. Left me thinking that a low-powered bike, like my sv, is not such a bad plan at this time of year.

Definetly! I am much quicker round town since I have been using the XT. Its such a blast, like using a scooter! With the motorway being such a pain at the moment I really cant see the need for a big bike!

It was -3.2c at 0715 in Billericay this morning. Instead of my normal hour to get in it took me 1hr20m no fog though. However last night it was like pea soup and I was down to 26mph along the country lanes.

Minus 3.5 this morning an hour after I left home. Rode home after an Xmas party last night about midnight, and was coated in ice when I got home. There was a 2-3mm thick wedge of ice at the top of my visor, which kept fogging up and then freezing on the inside and the outside so it needed wiping every 2-3 seconds at times. Fortunately the fog was at its worst inside the M25.

About half a mile from home I ride over a footbridge, rather than ride a long way round to avoid a ford. I forgot that it is made from metal perforated plates, which with a liberal coating of moisture and then a frost for good measure meant that I was practically stationary on a slight downward slope with zero grip from tyres and feet. Somehow I inched across, but will be taking the long way home tonight!

Riding into London from Gravesend at 5.30 this morning, it was very foggy, no idea what the actual temperature was, but the balls fell off my brass monkey

Definitely colder today. Brrrrrr!

I've done the zero grip surface thing once before - got most of the way home two years back, to find the snow had settled on the road up to my house. Made it through coaxing the bike along in second with the throttle barely open. Got overtaken on a crossroads by a muppet in a beemer doing 30 or so - chances of him stopping should he need to - very small indeed. banghead Muppet!

Fog was horendous last night on the Coast, the Visibility was about 25ft in some places.
Fortunately my NC30 Headlights only illuminate about 20ft of Tarmac so it made little difference.

Hmmm, this morning was interesting.....No way of keeping the visor clear, due to the fog, so rode the whole way in with visor up.....sppeding along the A12 at 70-71 (!!) was kinda interesting. My eyes still can't focus!

Also, is it just me, or does everyone turn into a snot monster in this kinda weather??!! vomit
