Many thanks to those who replied. This is a great website for debating problems. Bad running problem turned out to be a vacuuum pipe which had managed to disconnect itself from fuel tank. Living in Newcastle upon Tyne local Triumph dealer/mechanic on the hill was brilliant with knowledge and support. Need bike checking over for continental trip and its going straight in there.
