Why I Love Biking
Discussion
My mum and dad just left my house to back home after speding a few days with me for Christmas. After about 5 mins I donned the leathers, lid, gloves and boots, opened the garage, fired up the bike and went for a ride.
No reason, no destination to head for - just a load of coatal and country roads around Poole and Bournemouth for the last hour and a half.
It's the one last bastion of pure freedom where the journey is far more important than the destination.
Pure bliss!!!!!

With you all the way.
What a fantastic thread, thanks fergus!!! It's one of the best sensations, isn't it. I haven't ridden in a year now, but your post just made me want to go and put a deposit down on a new bike. Perhaps in the new year...god I love bikes!

To be honest, have just had possibly the wettest ride of my life, from Reading back over to SE London in torrential rain. Gloves and boots are squelchy, but the waterproofs meant that there are no wet leathers to stink up the house
And it still felt amazing to be out and riding.

When you have the right gear wet weather riding can be great fun!!!!
Getting my bike back on the road next week, still needed one or two bits finishing so it's going for a service at the same time... Tempted to get into this wet weather riding thing - often put off my damp roads even if it's no longer raining... Don't think my GSXR has ever been out in the wet!

Must be great to live somewhere permanenly dry... I recall seeing a CBR6 (I think) parked outside the window of the digs I had in Saudi: it was immaculate, although the rear tyre was down to canvas right round
I suppose the tradeoff in KSA is the sandblast effect... but there must be other places where it's mostly dry and not sandy...

From November until spring my bike stays in the garage. And when its really cold I put a little heater in there with her.
Every time I go into the garage though for whatever reason, I feel the urge to go and look at her or stand next to her.
Call me a weirdo but has anyone else named their bike?
