warning be careful of the diesel on the road going through Pensford new Bristol. :'(

after the guy who did a U turn on me last week. I thought best to get on with riding so went out for a short ride towards chew vally lakes near bristol. wish I did not

going down the hill into pensford braked about 25-30 MPH and the bike just fell from under me afetr riding over a large diesel patch.
well pissed. apart from the front fairing which broke it bits and the mirror ont he left hand side and the bars which bent forward all is well. needed to get picked up by recovary to get home as the sterring lock was non exsitant.

not been to hospital yet but seeing how my ribs feel tonight and hip. bloody sore and ache. clothes took it well as did my Aria corsair whcih did take a wack when i hit the deck.

feeling well pissed of. always though of myself as a good driver but as i have only 3 months of riding experance feel i have a lot to learn.
as others who I have ridden from SBF may know I don't ride fast and keep my eyes open.

but diesel on the road and a car driver who never saw we then did a U turn has knocked my Confidence for 6

That's bad news, I'd be brassed off to say the least. Like they say, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger! I've had a few close calls in my time, and it's only luck that means I'm not in your position now. All the near misses I can think of though, there's usually been something that I can reflect on and realise that if I'd approached it differently I might have had a little bit more luck on my side.

Sometimes it takes a few days for my anger and frustration to die down before I can think about it properly.

I'm not saying it's your fault by the way. Diesel should be a four letter word. Sometimes you can smell it before you see it. Doesn't mean that you'll be in a position to do anything about it though.

I'll bet your confidence is knocked - anyone's would be. I don't have any confidence pills I'm afraid, but at least you are here to ride another day...

Came off on diesel while I was still learning just over 10 years ago while out with instructor and other riding school pupils. Really is nothing you can do the bike just went from under me going round a bend at less than 20mph so I know exactly how you feel! I was leading the group followed by the instructor who only just managed to stop and keep the bike upright. Truck had p*ssed diesel round the bend and up to and round the next roundabout it was like a skating rink and it stunk bad! I was more p*ssed off as the cops were called out and an ambulance (which I didn't need), what made it even worse was that the bike cop gave me a producer which I thought made him a total c**t personally.
Despite this luckily for me no real damage to myself.. the school bike was beat up but hey I picked it up and got back on and rode it back to the training school. The next week I used the same bike (with buggered gear change leaver) to pass my test!!!
Getting back on the bike again ASAP is def the thing to do as you cannot beat experience! Don't be put off stick with it.

Bad luck again mate....nothing you can do with diesel all over the shop...sometimes the road surface is nothing short of dangerous on 2 wheels...still...every crash you learn something new...and are better prepared for all the hazards that road riding throws at you..expect a few more...but hopefully they don`t bite next time...even worse...you can be minding your own business and get whacked from behind....that`s happened to me once.

Oh FFS, I thought the transport industry was being leaned-on to sort this out? Of course it could have been some car/ van numpty filling to the brim I suppose...

Watch out for them, 'cos they sure as sh!t aren't watching out for you.

Really sorry to hear this - motorbikes are cheap transport (compared to cars) until you drop them

Having crashed twice in 2006 and spent around £2000 on repairs, I know how you feel. Still, even a low speed crash makes you appreciate how easy things can go wrong - you'll be a safer rider from now on even if the oil wasn't your fault.

Geez! Really bad luck bud! Diesel really is a killer, nearly crashed the Tiger coming back from the SVA on a large diesel patch. Hope you are up and riding again soon and your confidence isn't too knocked. Just remind yourself there really was nothing you did wrong
