I have had lots of helmets from lots of different manufacturers over the years. What I have found is that some helmets start out as tight fitting but ‘give’ and become loose fitting within the first couple of months. Others ‘give' very little and are still pretty much the same fit at three years old as they were new.

I’m currently looking at a Shoei as my next helmet and I’ve never owned a Shoei before. Do Shoei helmets ‘give’ in the first couple of months, meaning I should by a size that is currently a tight fit, or do they pretty much hold their size?

Thanks

Bought an XR-1000 two years ago at Ally Pally and it still fits as tight as the day I bought it. I have removed the inners and cleaned them in the bath with the helmet with baby shampoo as recommended by my local dealer so, apart from some stone chips on the top and chin bar, has held up very well after 12000 miles of fast road and track riding.

Great lid.

I had an RXR for a couple of years and that gave a bit after a year but cleaning it in the shower pretty much puffed up the inside again. My last two raid 2s haven't really given that much at all.

I had an RXR, (still got it infact), but it did give quite a bit and get too loose which is one reason why I bought an Arai. A few years down the line & the Arai is still as tight as the day I bought it - but maybe my head is more Arai shaped than Shoei?.

I had an AGV Ti-Tech and and AGV V-Flyer and both of the pads in those shrunk and degraded really quickly. I now use a Nolan N94 which is by far the comfiest and lightest lid I've owned.
