On a sports bike.

Is it any good?

I'm going for a weeks riding holiday in Spain in the summer and need to get some luggage for my GSXR750WV.

I want something that is as un-noticable as possible. Is this the right piece of kit?

I used to have it on my 996 - top kit! Yes, I've seen people laughing at it with the rack in place, and it does look weird on a sportsbike, but without it I wouldn't have been able to tour the continent last summer for a fortnight! Without the rack on the base part of the system is very subtle and doesn't look too bad. With the top part you can get up to two large bags with enough space for loads of kit. Handling wasn't compromised much either although you will notice the extra weight if you carry too much.

Thanks, that was the kind of reply I was looking for.

I really want something that won't compromise the feel of the bike......

You're welcome!
I used it because (apart from all the reasons I gave before) I don't like tank bags as they get in the way when you're getting a move on, and bulky back packs can be uncomfortable and probably not too safe.
My only criticism with the Ventura system is the screws that lock the two parts together. I have lost a couple and they can be a bit fiddly and I'm not convinced that it is the best way to secure the two parts. Granted, I hadn't tightened one of them sufficiently, but I got a bit of a shock 2 years ago when I looked over my shoulder to see an empty space where the luggage had been! I had gone round a roundabout briskly, and obviously flicking the bike from one side to the next had simply thrown the pack clear off the bike! By the time I discovered where it had happened (30 mins later) there was no sign of it. I had just bought a new set of leathers, kevlar jeans and other kit so wasn't best pleased!
Get the kit, though - it really is good!

It gets my vote to. I have used it for the past 3 years and have no complaints at all and it is so simple to use. It is well made and the only extra I have bought is some waterproof liners from Blacks which fir perfectly and garuantee keeping everything dry.

I also use the sports rack with the sports bag when commuting.
