Anyone dropped a tooth on the front on a 749?

Sorely tempted to do this as it's geared quite long and i fancy being able to pull power wheelies a bit easier and it would be nice to have a bit more brutal acceleration lower in the revs
If you've got a 749 could you tell me if it affects the speedo massively and, if it does, does it add loads more miles on the tacho?

I've dropped a tooth on the front of my 916 (from 15t - 14t) - huge improvement. But IIRC 749's already have a 14t front sprocket and they don't make 13t (would be too small anyway) if so you'll need to increase the rear, about +3 is probably a good number but this costs more as the rear sprocket is more expensive and you'll need a new chain.
But it would be a huge improvement in acceleration and you'll likely lose little or no top speed in the process, speedo is not affected as the pickup is on the wheel not the sprocket.
Checkout this Gear calculator, it has presets for many bikes, 749 included and you can change any of the data; max RPM etc.

With regards to the speedo - I know on the 748/916 it's a mechanical pickup from the front wheel but the speedo on the 749 is digital and I'd assumed this was taking it's info from the timing or something....am I wrong there?

IIRC pickup is a sensor on the rear wheel, near the brake/hub.
