To turn into my new track bike??

I am really considering getting rid of the blade and doing track work only, if I ride like I do on track on the roads then something is bound to happen. I am finding it more and more difficult to show a nominal level of restraint.

So where would be the best place to start looking, I reckon a 2003/04 CBR600RR with wrecked plastics to strip down and rebuild with track fairings, etc.

Another question, where could I get a bike trailer cheap??

PS. Nice to have a thread that isn't comparing car vs. bike and testicle size!!

VT, you could try that very well kown auction site for starters and also trawl the adds in the bike press.

And yes it is nice to have a thread that isn't about how big your ego is and how quick your car is around a certain track. thumbup

I was going to say 'give an undamaged CBR600 to chilli for a few days.....' but that would have been wicked. So I won't!

Bought my 03 CBR 600RR of a lad who had written off his brothers bike for £1800 in Oct 05.
It needed quite a bit of work, engine mount snapped off, but still worth the effort(cheers T666AKY).

Alway's been a Yamaha man, But I really recomend the 600RR as a track bike.

HBC salvage have quite a selection of late damaged bikes, worth a look on their site.

Bodywork, Harris seem to produce good quality replica bodywork as do ARD, Westgate road Newcastle upon Tyne. The cheaper stuff is a right royal pain in the ar*e.

Try Biketrader for the trailer.

Ps It is nice to see a thread with no arguing.

on a completly unrelated matter theres a 749 with fairing damage on that well known auction site, with buy it now for £3050, i think you could bid them down a bit and make them an offer as it hasnt had much interest, for a 600RR your probably best of getting bike trader and looking through the breakers section, bound to be on in there somewhere, there are quite a few dealers in there that specialse in damaged repairables and the 600RR is a brilliant bike

I had exactly the same problem - either prison or hospital hehe

If you can get hold of an insurance assessor, they may give you the name of some salvage yards where bikes that have badly scratched frames, etc (seems to require a write off these days!) go to.

If you do look on ebay, etc, you can get a sub std bike and typically make it track ready with little effort.

Depending on how much you want to spend, you could do a lot worse than buy an ex race bike off the bemsee/MRO guys. Check out www.motoforum.net (for sale section). I think you'd be surprised how little very high spec race bikes (inc. superstock) bikes go for.

Bike trader magazine seemed to have a large salvage section the last time I bought it.
