Best gloves I ever bought were alpinestar gp1s. Had them for 6 years and still going strong despite loads of use and the occasional soaking.

No help in answering your question but...

Much the same here with regards to your question.

For the road I wear Sidi Vertigo, really comfy if you have a wide foot!(no separate inner)
Gloves: Alpinestars GP tech, really tight at first but do strech and are comfy now.
(stitching on index finger had to be restitched)

For track days Sidi Vertebra race carbon, Had them for six years. Gloves are Joe Rocket GPX, again good fit, nice supple leather with a wrist strap.

Dianese have a good name, so don't I think you could go wrong with any of their stuff.

John.

Read a review on an R6 forum about the Puma Boots. Guy said they were excellent. Went to try them on... Literally couldn't get my foot in the boot past the ankle! Bought some SMX 4's instead and they are great - could wear them all day!

Do people really have summer and winter everything?

I have Oxstar boots which I see me wearing all year round. Gloves... I agree possibly get some summer ones as my Buffalo are very heavy and thick...but boots?

Have a thick Hen Gericke leather goretex jacket for Winter and an Alpinestars leather jacket for summer with Riche leathers.

That shouls suffice I guess... or do experienced people have othewr advice!! Will I boil my nuts off in leathers?

I used to use my side vert boots all year round but they leaked very badly in heavy rain. I started to use waterproof socks but the boots just started to get very very grim indeed. I now have some altberg boots for the winter which are unbeatable imo but I wouldn't want to wear them all summer so I'll be picking up some summer boots too.

I have summer and winter gloves but have never bothered with boots. I hate riding in winter gloves but in the cold/wet they are def the best thing to have. Worst bit is switching back to winter gloves after wearing summer ones for 6months or so.
Since I use Daytona Roadstar GTX goretex boots they work all year round perfectly and at £200 a pair I have to get my money's worth out of them! Usually 2.5-3 years before they are completely f****d. On my third pair now.
Gear wise, I have a paritally vented shoei leather jacket which sometimes sees use in really hot weather with normal jeans but I usually don't feel safe just wearing jeans and go back to my textile stuff the next day. I keep meaning to buy some textile vented summer gear.. I will get round to it eventually. I don't tend to use my leather lowers anymore (which zip to the jacket) as they really arn't practical round town and have zero ventilation

I only passed my test in Summer 2004 and my "evolution" of clothing goes like this:-

Summer 2004 - bought Frank Thomas (Goretex Equivalent), Jacket and Trousers. Sweated profusely and uncomfortably all summer - although did have summer gloves.

Winter 2004/05 - so glad I bought the Goretex - was lovely and warm with my Frank Thomas winter gloves

Summer 2005 - bought Alpinestars leathers and wore all summer - still warm - but much better than winter gear

Winter 2005/06 back to the winter gear - no issues

Summer 2006 - Back to leathers - but some days was just too hot - so ended up in my Levis and leather jacket unzipped.

The point of this chronology is that in 3 years of riding I am an expert in keeping warm now, that is easy. However when it comes to Summer - I want to stay protected, but I can't stand being hot!

This summer I am looking at draggin jeans (or equivalent) - but I have not found any for sale in shops in the South East or London - I can order online - but I am worried about the fit of the jeans - I really want to try them on first. Anyone got any ideas on who/where may sell these?

Also I saw someone riding last year on a sports bike, with summer gloves, boots, draggin jeans, and a motocross style body suit , on a sportsbike, with a long sleeve t-shirt underneath. Not gonna protect against abrasions that well - but he looked so cool (think heat - not Fonzy!) - I am so tempted for this Summer. Also I was in Australia a couple of weeks ago, and this is the type of gear all the bikers are riding in over there.

Thanks - however I have already seen this - when you phone the dealers though they only have 2 pairs, one in a size 28 waist and one in a 46 waist! All of them for 6 ft 7 giants!

All I could say is if you want them just keep trying
