Power Commander Map
Discussion
Hi all,
Has anyone got a good base map for a GSXR 1000 K5 with velocity stacks, bmc race filter, racefit can and the yoshi airbox mod?? I can't seem to find a good starting point anywhere online. I will be getting a custom map done but i at least want something to start from/ get the bike to the dyno (its a bit of a trek!)
Many thanks

Has anyone used mapped ignition on a power commander (I gather it's part of the product range). I'm looking to get the best drivability from the Aprilia, rather than just a top power figure and a PC comes out as one of the options. Previous involvment with engine tuning has pointed to the need to be able ignition timing as well as fueling to get the best from an engine, although I know it won't necessarily be cheap.
Thanks,
Steve.
Thanks,
Steve.

from the research i have done via pdq etc there isn't much point unless you are running different cams and higher compression- the only gain would be to have it mapped only for super unleaded. You would be talking minimal difference.
I'm not looking to gain power here, but rather get nice driveability. I don't expect to gain much peak power or torque as the engine will be unaltered. I'm looking to eliminate flat spots and hesitancy in the power delivery.
Just had a very useful phone call (bike engine tuner recommended by a good friend who's a car engine tuner) and his comment is that unlike cars, ignition timing on bikes tends to pretty good, so a power commander, provided a good base map is available, is well worth looking at, as only the fuelling tends to be a problem (too lean to meet emissions and hence the snatchy delivery).

I wasn't happy with the step higher up the rev range on my R1, so took it to Dynobike in North Yorkshire.
I told him I wasn't interested in any more peak power, just as much pickup low down as he could give me.
Air-fuel ratio, was what he worked on for me, which did the trick.
