Went to get some 2 pc leathers today for the new bike.

Leathers trousers fine, but the jackets - all very tight.

Is this normal? Not the easiest to zip up?

Tried Alpinestars Stage reduced from £569 to £400 and Arlen Ness at £540.

They both fitted the same - Alpinestars trousers a little looser.

Any help?

If you can pay extra, get made to measure crowtree or hideout leathers, they're not much more and far more durable.

if you really insist on two piece leathers, ensure they zip together (jacket & trousers) for better protection.

i personally prefer one piece.

try celtic leathers also, on the isle of man.

It would be easier for the type of riding i will do - not too many track days this year!

I've been looking at Alpinestars but the trousers are not a great fit (loose).

Anybody know about Arlen Ness - seem pretty good value?

Also about to head down to London next weekend - any tips on shops nearish to W1 with Wolf or Alpinestars?

Hi there,

I too have 2-piece leathers for the same reason as you. With track days in mind, however, I got the zip replaced with the heaviest guage zip available.

Your leathers should fit snugly but comfortably. Whilst it's good to buy them tight-fitting, because they will give with time, be sure that the fit's spot on.

Personally, when I replace mine, I won't bother with the main brands again. I'll definitely get made-to-measure from one of the bespoke firms offering a CE-approved suit:
- BKS: www.bksleather.co.uk
- Crowtree: www.crowtreeleathers.co.uk
- Hideout: www.hideout-leather.co.uk/folders/
- Carrera: www.carreraleathers.com
- MJK Leathers: www.glfacc.demon.co.uk
- Celtic: www.celtic-leathers.com
- Zac Leathers

Aside from BKS, any of these would cost the same as a top brand suit. Instead of a brand name with variable quality, you get a tailor made fit and top notch quality.

I wear 2 piece and wouldnt bother with a one piece again .

Make sure they zip together all the way around , and just as important , that the zip is stitched to the leather and not the lining as quite a few have

Thanks for all the advice - I took the easy option... and just bought a new set of Arlen Ness leathers from HG. £270 trousers, £270 jacket.

They seemed to fit the best and the red jacket is pretty bright for road use.

Been wearing the jacket all day today to break it in a little and it feels like a tight, but spot on fit - none of the armour moves, but I can comfortably.

The trousers are a little snug around the waist but that's giving a little as I wear them watching telly!

Over all the Alpinestars looked great but I went with the Arlen Ness for the fit and finish - the A* seemed a little frayed in the shop around the non-leather bits so I passed on their last pair.

Next time I'm going to get custom fit for sure - 1 piece for blasts/track stuff....

As an aside... This is the last year that Crowtree are officially trading so if you want some best get down there! They are retiring apparently!

Best leathers for the cash by miles though!!!!
