Well, after two months of TL1000R ownership, including one trackday, I came to the conclusion that a V twin with a bad attitude and 'interesting' handling really was not for me. So, I went back to the dealer and he agreed to take it back for only £200 less than I paid - and i'd put all the standard kit back on too, which he was fine about, so I kept over £200 worth of stuff (cans, aftermarket seat unit, screen, TRE etc)to put on eBlag

Anyway, I test rode the bike below and just had to have it - it's utterly wonderful in every way. I've been caning it around Wiltshire all day and I just cannot fault it - brakes are unbelievable, handling is sublime, it looks great and the power - wow! Hard on the gas in either 3rd or 4th and the front's going light and the bars are flapping! Mucho fun. It's a 2003 bike with a personal 'R1 ***' plate, it's got a carbon fibre and titanium Akrapovic exhaust, double bubble, colour coded undertray and tail tidy, braided lines, crash bungs, hugger and seat cover and only 11,000 miles on the clock. I don't think it ever saw rain until I got caught out today in what felt like a monsoon (in cargo trousers, I got soaked through!). As far as performance figures so I believe it has 150 - 155bhp and weighs 175kg.

Sweet handling, carries it's weight well and plenty of low down grunt, which the later one's are sadly lacking

Nice bike.

Good news - the sticker is off and there's nothing untoward underneath! Looks much better without it. Took it for a 70 mile ride with a friend today and even in the monsoon-esque conditions it was fantastic. I'm still only scratching the surface of it's capabilities but I loved (almost!) every minute of it!

Good man! Still one of the best looking Japanese bikes and in the best colour too. You're a lucky man - enjoy!

BTW Natalie dearest - I managed to coax Sy into spending some time sorting the 6R out (took a whole 45 minutes in the end apparently!!) and he came with me for a lap of 'the test track'* in the pouring rain on Sunday! Great fun. I've actually really missed looking in my mirrors and seeing that shoddy ZX trying it's best to fill them biglaugh

*you know, that Salisbury - Shaftesbury - Warminster - Salisbury loop that we showed you...

Very cool - I'm SO looking forward to getting my bike back on the road... First day I'm back I'm going to ask them to pick it up and sort it out! Service, new tyres, new exhaust..... but of tlc after being in the garage for so long..... expensive bill but worth it I hope!

Of course I'll be trailing even more on my little R6 behind your R1 (nothing new there then!)
