I got my bike license about 8 years back, haven't had a chance to get a bike since due to marriage and the wife being dead set against my going around on 2 motorised wheels.

Now that I'm going to be divorced soon, and am moving out of home, its time to start thinking about what sort of bike to go for.

it would only be for Sundays (weekdays I commute from Basingstoke to London via train and mountain bike), and maybe occasionally heading into work when the weather looks good.

First thought is that I'll need to do a refresher course, but after that, look around for a bike.

I'm about 6', 14stone (and rising, due to the gym), and figure eventually going to a CBR600 or something along those lines, but initially, at least until I get back into it, I should go for something a little more "sensible", Er-5, CB500, GPz500 ...

I looked at the "sensible" options before I bought my bike, but I found the Fazer 600 smoother and more user friendly, a really easy to ride & confidence inspiring bike. It can go very, very fast, but the real urge is located from 9k upwards: keep it below 6k and it's less threatening than the 600 Div I did DAS on.
