I used Hein Gericke last time but most bike shops will do you a good deal on leathers you just need to shop around a bit.As for one piece leathers i always buy two piece leathers as i often like to take the jacket off when i have arrived and walk around in just the trousers especially on a hot summers day.

If you are fairly normal size/shape you can get some very good ex-police BKS leathers off e-bay for about £100 to £150. BKS are about the best you can get!

Can't besat Crowtree for the price. Bit more expensive but made to measure and if you look after them they will outlast you!!!

BUT... They are retiring this year so if you want some then its this year or bust...!

You've missed the shows in Lunnon, but I seem to recall a Scottish one soon, so you might be able to grab a bargain there. The other options are to wander round dealers seeing if they have any last years fashion in the backroom. Do try em on first, and make sure you do the aerobics thing to find the pinchy bits in the dealers, rather than halfway round the twisties...

ISTR the Police biker I knew years back telling me that all their kit was made-to-measure, so unless by chance you're the same shape as the seller you might be better off with off-the-peg... not all Forces might be as caring though.

I think most forces do made to measure but as most people (including police offices!) are generally normal 'sizes/shapes' then getting a suit which was made to measure for someone who is a similar size /shape to you will fit no better/worse than a generic 'off the shelf' suit which was not made specifically to fit you either.

I know the ex-police suits are a really great deal as I know of two people who have bought them and have used them for a good few years. Their suits actually fit slightly better on them than my ‘made to measure for me’ BKS suit as mine seems to have shrunk around the waist in the years that I have had it!!!!

Yup, Hein Gericke again.

Just bought a Arlen Ness LS1-3339 Titanium Kangaroo Suit from their Farnborough branch. Got £90 off the suit and a free Ricochet back protector. Just ask for Gemma, she's hilarious too.

Well as the £1300 hole in my savings account will attest, Hein Gericke isn't too shabby. Buy enough gear in one go and they will do a deal (about £190 in our case), plus you get a points card to help knock some more off the bill next year

I know it used to be. I got my two-piece from ASP Leathers in Northampton five years ago, handmade by Albert Dann & Pearl who ran the place. I suspect they'll last me until they carry me out in a box - they are as over-engineered as an old W124 Merc and about as heavy. Superb kit - but no use at all if you fancy moving around on the bike! Incredibly thick leather, and SO well made.

Sadly, Albert & Pearl have - as far as I know - hung up their needles and scissors and retired. I'd head for Crowtree for another set, although I understand they're about to retire too...

Hi - a quick post on the "leathers" theme to ask whether Hein Gerrike leathers are likely to be cheaper in Germany than in the UK?
Am in Berlin on business next week and it could be a great opportunity to invest in some kit.

They may be.Go on the German website and compare prices if possible and work out what it would be in pounds sterling from the euro prices.

Well after so much singing of the praises of Hein Gericke, I'm afraid to report that me Julie's brand new (as in, worn twice) trousers are going back.
There's a Velcro flap that closes the waistband; for no good reason the stitching that held it has come apart and vanished completely. The holes are there, just no thread.
It would be bad enough if she was a fat munter and they were old duds, but she ain't and they're not, and disintegrating £200 trousers are no joke.
Still, if you will have clothing made in China...

I'll let you all know what resolution we get.

I did have the zip break on my jacket to be honest but they sent it away had it repaired and back in a week no hassle no charge.
