What is it with these owners? Came up behind the latest EVO today, he saw me and gets on the throttle and after I stopped laughing I wound open the taps on the K7....I thought the EVO had stalled.
Next village slow down and now have Mr Keen and Eager right up my chuff - what drugs are these people on? He may have 400bhp but I have nearly 200 on something that is almost an eighth the weight!!

Their forte is cornering - whatever the weather. When conditions are iffy, the Evo will spank you - unless you just want to race in a straight line. And in the dry they generate huge cornering forces so if the straights between the corners are short then your advantage is very much reduced - they have feck-off big brakes and can get on the power very early.
PS I have an R1 and an EVO so know a little bit about their various merits.
Still rather ride my bike, though.
Edited to add: don't race this one;

Ahhh norris, fecking fast and seem one blow a piston at Castle combe back in 05.
but again would still have a bike. takes more talent to ride a bike then an Evo. No disrespect RSVmilly
i like Evos as a car but would never buy one, with all the traction control, active yaw control etc anyone can get in one and go quick and the car kind of steralizes the driving experience in my opinion, no offence to you either RSV, they are a great tool and i loved having a go in one i just wouldnt buy one myself.
I don't dispute any of what you've all said about cars requiring less skill to operate. I've made the same argument myself to the various disgruntled interlopers to this forum.
I was making a point to the OP that they (and STIs) can still be fecking quick - and can go around MK roundabouts a lot quicker than your bike - something to be aware of.
As I said, though, I'd still rather ride my bike.

Spooky seeing this post this morning as I was going to post about seeing a feckwit in a modded Nissan Sunny GTi-R wanting to race a ZX-?( was either a 6 or a 7R I think) yesterday when out riding.
The Sunny was very modded and running high boost judging by the black soot coming out of the exhaust and noises from the atmo dump valve......
But as mentioned in the OP the driver was a complete d**k.....and was drving dangerously right up the chuff of the ZX.....
They were way gone from me though....I was out cruising on the 'tractor' after all.........

Sorry for the somewhat long post in advance.
Last time I posted on here I got well and truly flamed (and called a troll
) , so I'll tread with caution this time...............
I had one of these approximately five years ago :
(it got nicked the very night of this "duel", but that's another story)
It's a rare beast (just over 400 made) it's exhaust and ECU had been "tinkered" with and it produced at maximum 320-330 hp.It doesn't sound that much, but it was sufficient to keep up with a Ferrrari 360 up to 125mph..............
As I drove through Birmingham early one Saturday morning I noticed a couple of bikers weaving their way through the traffic (and popping the occasional wheelie....)
I did what all us "keen and eager"
Evo/ STI owners do and gave chase.
The bikes turned out to be a TL 'thou (not sure if it was an S ? and a Ninja 900 or 750 )
By the time we'd reached the dual carriageway section of the A456 heading out towards Junction 3 of the M5 I was within sniffing distance of the pair of them.
Anyone who knows this section of the 456 will know it forms a lovely sweeping left hander (through the tunnel) into a straight (now f*cked because they've stuck a roundabout slap bang in the middle of it and reduced the speed limit to 40mph
) leading into a long sweeping right hander which brings you to the island under the M5.
My speed through the tunnel in the Impreza allowed me to gain sufficient speed on the two bikes to get past them on the short straight before the long right hander.
The long sweeping right hander again played to the cars strengths, and I was able to enter the roundabout beneath the M5 with a small advantage (they've installed traffic lights on the roundabout now so you'd be unable to repeat what happened that day)
I exited the roundabout heading up the dual carriageway out towards Halesowen (and happily admit I came close to stacking the car into the Armco of the central reservation
) and continued down the dual carrigaway with the two bikes in hot pursuit.
As the three of us raced down towards the next set of traffic lights, who should be riding up the other side of the carriageway but Plod on his motorcycle..................
It would have been obvious to Plod we were well above the NSL so I immediatley turned off and hid in what was then the "Little Cheat" car park (well shielded from the road by plenty of tall conifers) the two bikers meanwhile carried on at unabated speed
I waited for at least five minutes to ensure Plod wasn't sniffing around and then gingerly made my way back onto the A456. As I did so, my two "opponents" were heading equally gingerly back up the other side of the carriageway
We waved as we went passed each other and I thought nothing more of it
Later that same day I was driving out towards Dudley on the Wolverhampton road when, as I approached one of the numerous sets of traffic lights, I became aware of a Suzuki GSXR 750 alongside me.
We stopped together at the lights and he flicked his visor up and I duly put my window down, at which he commented "nice car mate"
I duly replied "nice bike, 750 or a thou ?"
"Only a 750" he replied.
"Still quick though aren't they ?
"Oh yes" he said with a knowing smile.......
What he said next took me aback somewhat.
"you didn't have a race with with a couple of guys on bikes this morning did you ?"
I admitted I had, and told him what bikes they were and that the bloke on the Ninja appeared to be (in my words) "a bit of a nutter"
"Oh he is" and he then went on to recount how the pair of them had gone around to his place after our "race" and they'd both said "they couldn't believe how quick the car was both in a straight line, but even more impressive was its speed around the the roundabout underneath the motorway island....................."
Apparently the pair of them were gobsmacked that I hadn't braked (or needed to) whilst entering the roundabout.
I don't profess to be a quick driver, but as RSVMilly says, the Evos and STIs do flatter a half decent driver and down a twisty road will give even the latest 1000cc bikes a hard time.
When all is said and done and irrespective of how much lighter the bike is, you can only deploy so much horsepower through that tiny contact patch once you've got the bike leaned over.
A car, especially a well balanced one such as an Evo or an STI, will be delivering all its power through all four wheels and thus there is far more grip available through the tyres contact patch as they are only transmitting a quarter of the power when compared to that of a bikes rear tyre.
In summary, a properly driven 4WD Jap rally replica won't always have the upper hand. But throw in a twisty road with a few crests, make it poorly surfaced (show me one that isn't ......)and they'll not be found wanting. Add a light sprinkling of rain/nice layer of typical English autumn leaf debris/mud or gravel, and the odds are stacked against the motorcyclist.
Flame suit and flak jacket at the ready
