You can buy mine for 2 grand!*

Have a look at www.ukmonster.co.uk if that's what you are after.

*It's not for sale, the non-starting was all my fault.

Slow as foook. Poorer quality suspension than its brethren. Probably only got a single front disk. All that maintenance liability with so little return.

The 620 is supposed to be a big improvement although it will still feel wheezy compared with Japanese fare.

I gather the 750 was supposed to be the sweet spot for monsters.

So it sounds like £2k for a 1994 600 Dark (different bike to the topic header) could be a bit steep for a bike that has such a potential maintenance liability, and characteristics as described above?

The 600 is no tarmac ripper, but is undeniably a sweet little bike. The handling is fine & the brakes are perfectly strong enough for its weight & power. I have been lucky enough to have had a few CBR600s and a 'Blade but the Monster has really grown on me - you can actually get a thrill from pushing it to its limits and in three years my running costs have been buttons.

but you have a 900 ? the 600's are gutless .
750's are best compromise more power smoother engine compared to 900.

But when its being serviced, they give me a 600 which, in a funny way, I prefer

Thanks for your responses, I have booked a test drive (back to back with Fazer 600 and Hornet 600) so will see what it is like on saturday. I am very much a newbie though, so anything will seem fast!

i was offered a Monster, think it was 620 04 or 05 plate, for £2.5k. was very genuine and very good bike with 33bhp restrictor and one lady rider. turned it down because of the stupid insurance quotes.

can't remember why he got it on the cheap, but he is a loony who has promised me a go on his 999 when i pass my test!

so yes, genuine it was.

Does sound steep to me my '99 900 dark was for sale for £2495 from a duke dealer 4 years ago, whatever one you get though get yourself some blue flame twin port cans, they sound/look awesome!

The only way to be sure.

If I was a betting man, I'd see you end up on one of the Jap bikes, though

is insurance bad on them then. i was thinking a 600 monster would be an excellent first bike when restricted
