Hi all. first post

I'm currently riding an Aprilia Falco, and am looking to get a set of Cans. Currently narrowed the list down to either Scorpion or MTC, both have merit. However, I'm reading up a fair bit about it, and having never modded any of my bikes I've become stuck with something. If I replace the exhaust with aftermarket, the weight of them will most prob change, does this affect the balance of the bike, as suggested in a few articles I've read? And secondly, with the change, do I have to adjust fuelling etc?

If these sound like dumb questions, then I can only apologise, tho only way to learn is to ask.

Thanks in anticipation

Regards

Ask these guys, very helpful. Already had plenty of info from those forums. I got my Falco at the weekend, and its lush!!

Any weight loss will be a positive step as you will lose a couple of kilos tops so be marginally quicker to fling around, but not enough to warrant any suspension changes etc

I have a mate with a Tuono - he replaced the stock system and showed me what he had taken off. Must have weighed 20kg (exaggerating a bit). I can't imagine that by removing so much weight there wouldn't be some difference in balance of the bike though - worth you checking - maybe with an Aprilia dealer?

From the sounds of it he's swapping out the end cans which certainly won't be 20kgs worth of saving. When you hold the stock ones and the aftermarket ones in each hand you will definitely notice a difference, but not enough difference to worry about anything with the setup.

I think you'd have to be a very good rider indeed to notice an appreciable difference in handling due to the weight reduction

Cheers for the info guys.

a couple final question if you dont mind, with regards to the cans themselves, I'm pretty much torn between 2 makes, scorpion and MTC. MTC do a titanium tri oval twin exit in black, which I think looks pretty sweet, but they don't do carbon fibre. Scorpion on the other hand do carbon fibre, but only in ovals. Firstly, is there a significant weight difference between the 2 cans? I believe titanium to be stronger, carbon to be lighter, but which is better? (thats quite a loaded question), and also, does anyone have any take on which would look better Tri oval (twin exit) vs Oval (single exit). Just looking for opinions on this one

Kind Regards

I have a Scorpion Carbon fibre oval on my Hornet, and I love it. I've seen a fair few Falco's on the owners websites with Scorpions on, so they can't be bad! I must confess I've not heard of MTC (don't rule them out because of that though!!)

Take a look on the above websites I've shown you. There are threads on there showing owners Falcos and they've mostly been customised to some extent or another. You'll only tell by looking which exhausts are more pleasing on the eye - beauty is in the eye of the beholder!

This is my bike running high-level carbon fibre ovals, they look and sound the business! They are the Aprilia Fighter cans, which I believe were a factory option.

Spoke to the place where I got my bike from, as it happens they are the dealer for both makes of exhaust, which is a bonus. Don't fancy the high level, only because I've finally convinced my girl to ride pillion, (on the basis that I buy her leathers, and the only set she likes is the alpinestars in pink and white!!), so will have to see on that one lol. However i digress, the high level pipes would surely cause her discomfort, blocking pegs and perhaps heat. As it turns out MTC is run by the guy that either used to own, or ran Blueflame. Max Torque Cans (MTC), is the company he set up. Regardless, the tri ovals look sweet, so I think I'm gonna go with them, that an the fact that I can get them £150 cheaper than the scorpions, which is always a bonus.

Appreciate the advice an time given to me questions
