I seem to be having some problems with my bike (GSXR 600 K4) came to it last week and the fuel pump wasn't running when I turned the ignition on, traced the problem back to the fuel pump relay, so I ordered one and replaced it this evening. Bike started first bang and I then took it out for a 20 mile run, all was fine came to park it up, switched the ignition off and then back on to try and start it and It seems to have the same problem. What could be causing the Fuel pump relay to blow?

Any ideas?

Blocked fuel filter? or just a dodgy pump?

Only guessing but I know that on Ducatis (for example) a clogged filter can cause Voltage Regulators to burn out due to the increased current that the pump requires........

When I installed the relay the socket looked as good as new. I'll take a look at the fuel pump filter.

It's not a dodgy sidestand switch or clutch switch is it?

I don't think so as it does everything bar prime the fuel pump when its not working. I seems to be working at the moment, Ive had various relays and fuses out and wd40'd them and it all seems to be working fine!
