Ducati 1098 or 1098 S

Now chaps,
If one were thinking of getting a 1098 or 1098S what one would you go for?
I'm keeping my 2005 R1 as it's done almost 30,000 miles and is worth not much as a trade in, it's worth more to me to keep it and I can continue to use it for the daily commute.
The 1098 would be used now and again for hooning and for the odd journey to work only when the sun's shining you know to give it a run and blow the cob webs off
I have been given some figures from a couple of dealers and they have come up with 6% & 6.5% base respectively, which isn't so bad. Basically the 1098S would cost £70 a month more than the stock 1098, the base price differene for the two bikes is £2,750....so what would other peeps go for. Is the Ohlins and slightly lighter whels really worth the extra money?
The only difference between the stock & the S is the S has Ohlins front & rear, slightly lighter wheels, carbon front fender and the data logger as standard.

Do what I did and get standard 1098 then use differnce for Full exhaust system, a few carbon bits and the datalogger is only £150. The finance should be doable through a dealer at a max of 5- 5.25 flat rate.
Ohlins is good, I've ridden bikes with Ohlins before but whether you will benefit from it depends on where and how fast you ride. I tried following Niall Mackenzie on a track day when he was riding a standard 749 with standard suspension and believe me he didn't need it!!! Although I could have done with the extra help!
You can get a lot of bits for £2800!!

Agree with the others,get the base model and add a few things.I suppose the only thing with the 'S' version is the kudos of having it.Are you being predictable and getting a red one?:-)Like the look of the black one,mind you i'd have to nip down to the local B&Q and get a tin of black hammerite(the smooth stuff obviously)and make that red frame bit dissappear.

Where are they offering 5 - 5.25% flat rate.
Also I think you're right about the S, save the extra £££'s and use it for other goodies. Anyway you can always have Ohlins internals fitted in the forks at a later date for not a lot of dinero's

The dealer should be able to get close, I asume you do mean "base/flat" rate and not APR as these are different. If you are talking APR then that is a good deal.
