The one on Ebay looks like a modern one he used for the Goodwood Revival meetings he rode at, not one of the old GP helmets.

Oh well, here goes.

Met Mr Sheene a few times throughout the years (as had a lot of people) and always referred to me as "Oz" (Jimmy Nail)

Anyway, Spent a bit of time in Hospital twenty years ago and was told that he had rung the Hospital asking how I was (he was in England at the time) the Sister on the ward didn't believe who it was on the phone and hung up. He rang back and spoke to my Mother and Mrs Nemesis.(couldn't come to see me as I was in intensive care)

Received a nice telegram and flowers from him.

Missed by me.

It's a wonderful story, I was very sad when he passed away.

My dad used to race in the early and mid seventies. He had his own Racing team (T-Mag Racing) and they even had a works Weslake engine, though could only afford the one! He used to meet Barry Sheene on a regular basis, when attempting to qualify at Paul Ricard at an international one year (they didn't the bike was too slow) he spent a lot of time with the great man and at various other meetings, he also used to race with Foggys old man.

From what my dad has told me of him, he seemed like a wonderful guy, the closest I came was when my mum was pregnant with me and he patted her on the belly assuring her I would be a beautiful girl like my mother!

Took this at Donnington in 1979.
I was a 17 year old kid, me and a mate rode down from Durham on a GT250 and a KH250.
There must have been 30 people waiting to see Barry outside his caravan. He signed autographs for every one of them. I'll never forget it.
