Just ridden my 12 day old R1 in to work this afternoon. It's ready for its 600 mile service already
Very difficult to refrain from silliness on the way in, the naughty thing keeps on encouraging me
It's got a good mid-range but above 10k it's mental! You wouldn't like it Chilli

Could you imagine it? Have you been running it in carefully, or are you of the opinion that a "good seeing to" is perfectly acceptable??!A new bike is like a new woman...no bloke really enjoys it, but lots of foreplay (or running in) in the early stages of the relationship meens you can ride it hard and fast for many years to come without too much worry of expensive maintenance later on!
God I hope the wife does not see this...

Now where did I put that prescription pad ... It's certainly a LOT easier to ride than the Aprilia - feels much lighter, less snatchy throttle response, less weight on the wrists. I felt immediately at home on it - perhaps that's a bad thing! And it sounds great even with the stock exhausts.

Bob I had the shift light (set at 13,500rpm) on my 05 R1 flashing last night in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th & 5th and fook me it was flying, I'd even go as far as saying if it had wings it would have taken off
I've got a set of Akrapovic cans on mine and it sounds awesome, even if I say so myself. I do like my R1, and Nick you know you really wouldn't like one....honest....
Caveat: This experiment was conducted on my private test track and under strict conditions

I, too, went from Mille R to R1 and I know what you mean. The Mille felt more planted and since I'd dropped the forks, it actually turned faster than the R1 but the engine on the R1 is like a turbine. Smooth at low revs, good fueling (not as good as a carbed R6, though) and crikey that top end!!!![/quote]

Andy, I bet you were flying? Any ideas, in leptons obviously?
Re the R1 debate....please lets not start that again....I keep thinking about a nice 2004 model,,,,In Red. Anyone know where there is one?
