Given the previous ‘bike vs. car’ races Fifth Gear have run, with the Lambo being beaten by a Duc 999 then there should be no competition, but, this is a car show not a bike show so, my money is on the bike only just winning. silly (Which would mean that the Type-R is as quick as a Lamborghini Gallardo – hmmm scratchchin I think not! )

I'd usually say the blade....everyday of the week. However, IIRC the 5th gear track is rather short and windy...so it'll be a close thing. Wouldn't makle good tely if the blade just roared off into the distance!!

Yes, it's a tight circuit (don't 5th gear use Anglesey?). ISTR when Tiff raced in a Lambo Gallardo against a racer on a Ducati 999 the Lambo won. Although the Civic has less bhp it's a much lighter car than the Lambo so may well be quicker on a short twisty circuit. Wouldn't surprise me at all if the car were quicker.

the Ducati wins - just!

This time the race is at Cadwell Park so may make a difference.

They're using Cadwell park for this "race" which is quite a fast flowing circuit... if a blade and civic was ridden/driven at 100%, the blade would eat it.

Exactly! If it's a totally fair test, which I doubt it will be, Toseland on a Fireblade should spank Tiff in a Civic (even if it is a Type R) - my money's on the bike!

The Blade will p!ss it by around 20 seconds.

Superbikes are lapping in the low 1 20's, supersports in the mid 1 20's.

Lap records in a car is 1.23 (in a Radical SR8 race car), so a Civic doesn't have a hope in hell.

Suspect on TV though its closer than this.

Depends if they run them on the track at the same time. The car could make it awkward to pass - a bit like the clarkson R1 vs 911 test

Not really.

If they start the race at the start/finish line then the bike would be well clear by the first corner & would never look back.
