I agree, JT hardly putting much effort in they could have had tiff in a NSX type R and he would have still thrashed him. I guess they made it look closer than it should have been, he could have won on a 600 had been given one.

Why do they do this, it's a ridiculous waste of time. Top Gear ( a prog I otherwise enjoy) even put a car against a boat ! Why, what does it prove, oh yes, boats float..........................

I think they should have put JT on a 250. He would have still won easily especially if he was trying.

well it isnt a propper type r for a start, the Japs are getting the propper one.

Secondly its hardly a fair contest was it, they should have used a 600 or get a larger capacity engine then you'ld see whats what.

Depends on your definition of fair. You could argue that it was horrendously unfair on the bike as it costs a LOT less than the car. The bike should have had £10k of tuning work to even up the value test

pah bikes are pretty much a loss lead these days so in real terms the bike was 30k.

the bike needed 12k's worth of crippling OR me in the saddle

The laps they filmed were show boating, the timed laps probably weren't. They said on the timed laps the bike went 8 seconds quicker which wouldn't have made much of a film as the car wouldn't have been in shot for half of it.

Also remember £20K of track day car will leave pretty much any bike for dead around a circuit, even with pro's on both. With ammeters on board a car is much easier to go quicker on through the bends.

I think Voltmeters make better drivers.....lols

But then a £5k track day bike will see off your £20k track day car....Not that this is a willy waving contest.

Great fun seeing two excellent drivers/riders in control of their vehicles and having such a laugh doing it! I think it showed just how much fun you can have on a bike and the amazing power they have compared to a car (albeit a quick but not fast one).

The Ariel would walk it. I was surprised that the bike was 8 seconds quicker than the civic will is hardly a slow car is it. Also the track is very twisty usually these things are done to win favor one way or the other but it did show how much faster a bike can be than quick production car. When you talk atoms and the quick 7 reps though nothing can touch them.
