Ok, to cut a long story short, I'm at snetterton in June and I'm riding with the big boys in the top group, so need all the help I can get!! Does anyone know any course maps, pictures, vides etc I can review? I've looked at the circuit website, but it's not very good in this respect.

Cheers.

You can buy a guide to UK circuits (with video I think) from Demon Tweeks, etc. although it's geared for cars so not necessarily appropriate for bikes, but it would give you an idea at least. I've got a document at home with info as well - I'll try to post something when I get home.

Agree with Mark, quite a bold move for your first visit to a circuit to go in the advanced group and Snett is fast as well.

Anyway, I'd suggest checking youtube for vids and I'd also suggest getting a DVD/Video of the BSB championship as you'll get a very good idea of the circuit from there, plus you'll see all the potential passing places etc. used by the pro's.

19th!!
I'm a little bit sceptical, but the organiser and I have chatted at length about it. He's gonna send me out with an instructor for the first session to make sure I'm ok. I'm quite apprehensive, but think I'll be ok. My pace at Rockingham was pretty good (lapped most of my group twice in most sessions), and I was comfortable with the speed. Could have gone faster had the slower guys not been there.

Fingers crossed!

No problem! I seem to have lost the document I had with circuit info on it, but here is the Demon Tweeks link to the UK circuit guide :

Good luck!

Without meaning to sound awful, if you're lapping people twice in a 20 minute session then you are either god or they are complete tools.

You may be fine at Snetterton in the advanced group, however I really would advise going in the inters for a couple of session to at least get used to the layout of the circuit. You can always move up to the advanced later in the day.

Who's it with on the 19th ?

I think you're biting off more than you can chew here Chilli - might sound unfair as I've never seen you ride but you've only been riding a couple of years, you've never done a trackday (bar CSS which is MUCH slower than a trackday) and you want to go in the advanced group.....my suggestion would be to go to a local earlier trackday and just watch. You might be suprised at just how fast the fast group is.

ETA - when I did the CSS I lapped a fair few of the people there and thought nothing of it. I know that I'm not Rossi through how I compare on actual trackdays.

Ah, but it's a Rapid Training day, not just a trackday blast. I've been told to expect riders that carry good speed, certainly, but the concentration seems to be on control, lines etc. Instructors will be on the track throughout the day giving advice.

Come on man....boost my confidence here!!!

AH I see - I (and everyone else) assumed you meant a trackday!

Don't worry - Snettertons easy. It's where I had my first off

Chilli, you've got a huge tool (is that black too?) and all the girls really want your babies (especially Natasha Bedingfield!)

Would it be in bad taste to run a book on this?

I think running a book would be in bad taste.

What about an PH outing to Snetterton on the 19th June though hehe

TOCA Touring Cars on PS1 or PC has all the UK tracks should you want to learn them.

Best of luck...when you feel good it`s often just the ticket to put yourself in with the fast boys & see what happens if you think you can handle it...your riding will get better quicker as you stretch your perception of what you can get away with.

1st corner ..fast double apex right...looks around 4th
2nd..2nd gear right onto back staight ..
3rd & 4th left/right is a 4th gear left..3rd or 2nd right..
5th is the bombhole..a fast 3 or 4th gear right with a dip in it..dodgy run off there so play it safe...
6th is another 4th/5th gear long right shortly after the bombhole
7th is the right left flip flop 3rd then 2nd gear chicane..watch the left side of the tyre on the way out which won`t be as cooking as the right...

It`s a fast track to chuck your bike down so even though you are keen for a tussle relatively speaking,...make it your goal to stay sunny side up at the end of the day..the red mist is often a bigger problem than any lack of ability...pay attention to your strength level in your arms as the sessions progress....I find that you can stay out too long & find your machine control gets all hamfisted if your arms are all pumped up ..you lose the finesse in the braking & handling & can be the cause of an avoidable off...often best to take a break then get stuck in again....if your running road rubber they may not be as comfortable on the pace of the race tyre shod participents ... Have a great day...I bet it will be an absolute ball...

Yes, but of the computer you get another go when you stack it. Unfortunately in real life you don't (well not that day).
