I'm due to go for a lad's week away in Ireland on my BMW RT1100 motorbike and was planning on taking my Tom Tom. However, the only available power to keep the Tom Tom charged would need to come from the BMW unique cigarette lighter socket. I've tried to find a power accessory to connect to this with no luck at all. At the moment it's looking like I'll have to try and cobble something together myself!!! Does anyone know if there is such an accessory out there? If so - please point me in the right direction.....

BMW do a plug which you can attach to the lead and, from memory, I think they are about £7.00

I have just put a lighter socket on my bike for when i go touring to charge my mobile phone and my mates tom tom.All i did was go to a local car accessory shop and purchase a cigarette lighter socket on a lead that is used to plug in the front of a car lighter point and go through to the boot.I then cut the plug of the lead that goes in the lighter socket and soldered on a couple of round crimps. These were then conected to the battery and a nearby earth and the socket laid under the seat where i can now charge phones etc and conect any other device that needs charging.

That's great - thanks! I've just bought this....it's saved me trying to cobble something together.
