Biker Babe with Z1000
Discussion
Careful here guys.....How do we know she's a babe....Could be a cyclist infiltrating us proper bikers...perhaps some pictures might settle everyones nerves??!!
Dumped the 600 to keep up? What 600 was it? Mine keeps up with most (in the correct gear of course)... not sure how, as I tend to have my eyes shut most of the time, but generally it's ok!!!
Ps - Hiya
and welcome
Cheers.

Chille - calm down, man!
I have a 2004 Z1000 and I don't care what the magazines say, it's brilliant! I have Akrapovic pipes (massive weight saving and probably significant power gain too) and have gone down one tooth on front and 3 on rear and the pick-up (err . . . usually the front wheel picking up!!) is great! The suspension is fine until you push it and then it really does get in a mess and you have to back off or risk getting punted off the outside of the corner as it bounces wide. I smile every time I get on it. Sports bikes do not get away from me under power (OK, the latest litre bikes would pull away, but you'd need to be into silly speeds before then) and it is such a giggle. Hope this helps and hope you enjoy yours.
Now what was that about chicks and leather . . .

I have a looney friend who rides a tatty old '99 ZX6R, but he's been riding for 10 years, and it's his only transport so he does a LOT of miles. On roads that I know really well I can use more of my R1's capabilities so he has a struggle to keep up - but on roads I don't know, I sometimes struggle to keep up with him!! There's nothing wrong with a 600 - you just have to be able to ride it

I rate the Z1000 pretty highly.
Alright the suspension isnt the most sophisticated in the world but it has enough midrange torque to keep up with the 'big boyz' so to speak without having to kick down a number of gears and thrash the arse off it.
As already said, yeah ok a K6 or K7 GSXR1000 etc will be ultimately quicker and could ultimately do quicker laptimes but with normal folk a large part of your speed is feeling confident with the bike and getting the most out of it. (My Brother has a very lardy XJR1300 but has been one of the quickest in his group a good few times on track days because he is riding it to an inch of its life)
Cutting to the chase, as a street bike the Z 'thou' should be more than capable of keeping up with your mates on their litre bikes..
Id test ride one and if it fits the bill, go for it. Oh and let me know how it goes as if i went for having just one bike i could be tempted myself..
cheers,
Nik

I've got a Z750 and love it, Since I've had it I've changed the exhaust and swapped the rear shoch for a ZR636 jobbie and I love it. My main issue is that the seats not very comfortable and after an hour on the bike your ready to get off (although after 100 miles or so you have to fill up anyway). I keep thinking about getting a baglux seatster for it but at £250 they arent cheap.

Mate, anywhere will do!!
Can't fault that, just wear protection....... I would recomend a Shoei or Arai...
I know what you mean about a Chick in Leathers.......makes me feel all warm inside.
