Hi,

What are PH opinions about the ultimate gloves for summer? I need to replace mine before the next track day, as the stitching's simply fallen apart.

BKS? Kushitani? Nankai? Alpinestars? Held? ... ?

Cheers

I've been using a pair of these for the last 4 years, even crashed in them and they are still holding up well. Well made, very comfortable and not too sweaty in the one week of British summertime

Cheers everyone. Alpinestars don't fit me well, unfortunately. I've used Hein-Gericke for a few years, but was never fully happy with them (bits fell off, the leather went funny, etc).

Gloves that have been good in the past were Held - a sort of 'posh Hein Gericke'. However, the stitching fell apart on one glove, so I've gone off them.

My Dainese D-Dry gloves have done well, but Dainese tend to score rubbish in RiDE magazine abrasion tests. So I'm not convinced a summer pair for track abuse. (Though the Rossi ones look great!)

I saw a couple of exotic choices:
Kushitani GPR5 race gloves www.gearchangeonline.com/product_l
RS Taichi GP Evo race gloves: www.crescent-suzuki.com/pages/shop

Has anyone experience of these?

I lent an old pair of Alpinestars GP Plus to someone who proceeded to throw the bike down the road. Even though the gloves had seen four years of misuse and crap weather and felt a bit stiff, there was little more than a scuff on them.

Currently have some black carbon-clad Dainese

On my second pair of GP Tech's. First pair were replaced after three months as the stitching on the finger came away twice. The replacement pair have done the same (had them restitched at work, maybe it's just me? anyone else had the same problem.

Totally agree, last two years I was racing and GP Plus save my hands on 4 occasions. Excellent protection, quality and comfort!!

i have a pair of dianese x metals, which are nigh on the same as the rossi gloves mentioned previously in the topic, prior to that i had a pair of spidi gloves which i did crash in and werent even marked . They were the best for feel of the controls but i feel safer in the x metals with the double strap and better placed armour but they do lack some when it comes to the feel of the controls

I've only had one pair of GP pros yet, so I can't really compare, but I can't fault them!

Currently have a pair of Johnny Rocket Speedmaster 6, which are nicely armoured and plastickified on the top, with a thin kangaroo and Kevlar palm. Very good fit, twin velcro is a bit of a PITA if they stick to each other for the last glove, but hey. And they have the scaphoid plastic thing on the bottom of the palm, which is why I succumbed to the Infinity sales blurb.
Went out in last summers RST gloves and the difference is scary
