ITV4 TT coverage
Discussion
Just watched the first preview program, and was fairly unimpressed I'm afraid. It was supposed to be a look back at the history of the TT, but there were so many glaringly obvious mistakes it kind of took the enjoyment out of it I'm afraid. The most obvious were talking of how great Agostini was, whilst showing Phil Read bump starting his Yamaha. Then saying how MV Agusta was one of the great names in Island history- not great enough for them to spell it correctly on any of the captions though (all spelt MV Augusta).
If people decide to make these programs, then why not do some decent research. They failed to mention some of the great machines (Guzzi V8, Honda 6, DKW 2 stroke- it could be heard in Liverpool when running at full chat over the mountain, or the Douglas banking sidecar outfit), the great achievements (Hailwoods return in 78, or winning with the loose throttle in 67), or the interesting facts (in the 1914 TT the third place finisher couldn't take his place on the podium as he'd fatally crashed his Royal Enfield after crossing the finish line- marking the introduction of the chequered flag (I think)). I realise that there are so many great achievements that not all could be included- but come on, there wasn't even a mention of a Manx Norton!
The program was worth watching though, even if it was just to see Steve Plater in a novice vest!!

Good to see a healthy interest in the TT though from a big network like ITV4..a step in the right direction....I can`t wait for the races...I just hope everyone makes it back safely because I`ve a feeling that with the 100th year, nobody is there to make up the numbers & all racers will be pushing for a win....
I`m also pretty sure there might be more than 1 who will crack the 130mph barrier...How gutting would that be to find after cracking the 130 average lap..you still didn`t win...
I hope the weather stays dry too...

Great race..lovely weather...
Guy Martin was unlucky his teams pit work was rather shabby...
Mark Parrot was lucky too get away unhurt after his sumersault over the bales...
Gutted for Mark. Used to go to school with him, his dad (Geoff) was my Arkala/cubs back in the early 80's. Just glad he wasn't hurt!

Aye but howay man, Mike Brewer, that geezer is bloody useless, probably looking for a mate to sell a second hand tarted up car to.
Oh but here is the bad news, as you know here on Autotrader we like to tell you the whole story, "on one of these models there once was a puncture in a tyre and that could cost you a couple of quid, would you still buy one now?"
Shoot the bugger please.
Oh and re the two pre race programmes (TT Greats and TT Centenary) agree about the number of mistakes but also was it just me or was the sound quality of many of the inteviews poor. Wasn't sure if it we just my tele but couldn't understand a word being said

Agreed. Why do we need Sheepskin Mike to tell us that 'Janie' is going to 'see what the winner has to say'?As for your tele, Skyedriver, it was probably the Irish accents of the interviewees rather than the sound quality!
