Well I was going to until I tried to start the bike, flat battery
So cue me and Judas running up and down the street trying to jump start the fecking thing. Unfortunately we had a little accident when the bike started and leapt forward. Cue Judas trying to pull the clutch in and missing, stumbling and the bike and us going down in a heap in the middle of the road. Arse.
He has a very sore shoulder and gravel rash all down one arm where he landed and I have a swollen knee, sore hip and less skin on the palm of my hand than I used to have. Bike has a busted indicator, bent handlebar, broken clutch lever and completely bent gear lever.
Fecking arse. Lessons learnt from this, don't let your battery go flat if you have no way of starting it other than pushing and you are too feeble to do it on your own. We both feel such complete t
ts and are currently hiding from our neighbours.
Please feel free to take the piss, but gently as we are still sore.
Are you allowed to say 'cock' on Pistonheads?

Edited to add, I am going to continue sulking and watch the GP which I have discovered has just started on Beeb2

For that, you are allowed to make full and frank use fo the swear filter. Commiserations and soothing balms to the pair of you. Not good news, but remember that scars are sexy...

yup - first ride on my new (to me) 1st bike - picked it up in oxfordshire and rode back to london through some lovely country lanes - and the A4.
It was awesome, however i think i lost about 4 stones in weight. Never realised how hot leathers would be in the sun!
Is that the first time you've been out on your own ? Were you worried ? I'm looking forward to my first ride but to be honest, it scares me a bit which surpsises me given what I do in my cars.It was awesome, however i think i lost about 4 stones in weight. yup - aside from a test ride on a clapped out hornet from a dealership, that was the first solo flight!
you are right, I was bricking it to start with (well to be honest the whole time), but the running commentary of my instructor going through my head seemed to make things less scary.
I was fortunate enough to have an excellent instructor, and did my DAS in February in the dark, cold, rain and hail with minimal protective gear. Compared to a day 1 introduction to filtering on the south circular in rush hour in the dark and pouring rain, yesterday was quite pleasant.
Also, I am a pretty defensive rider - some of the other bikers I saw out are quite frankly nutters (although obviously not the PHers!) - whereas I was observing like mad, not overtaking and adhering to the speed limits.
If you are in the west london area and want to go out riding with a defensive rider, who intends to get old with all bits still attached and fully working let me know!
