Yamaha 'Test Fest' -- R6
Discussion
Yamaha are doing a promotion called test fest, where you basically ride the bikes, no questions asked and just have to write an evaluation form at the end. I took out the new R6 for half an hour and deduced that it's a nice bike but bloody uncomfortable on your back, and WAY too slow low in the revs - once you get it up in the revs its quite nippy, but pulling away from traffic lights it feels like it's in third! Ridiculous. But then, it's designed for the track so I guess it makes sense. Handling wise it felt very similar to my R1.
Anyway, the promotion runs until the 31st July and you can see if your local dealer is taking part by checking the Yamaha UK website - you can also see which models they have on test. Sadly my local guys didn't have the new R1

Interesting, I'd like to try the latest R6 to see just how uncomfortable it really is based it looks. I had a 99 original before and the bars in comparison were like a touring bikes compared to the latest model.
I think I'd defer the R6 ride if I could get a go on a latest R1. Maybe one day I'll be able to cost effectively insure one so would be good to know what I'm missing being 400cc less currently.
I suspect its somewhat overkill for the road. lol

Looks liek they have the R1, R6 & FZ1 at my local yam place. Looks like a trip out soon!
Awesome job by whoever wrote that test fest page NOT... lets just list the dealers name and not the location for the dealers with multiple branches.. pure genius!!London has infinity and George Whites as official dealers and these are listed I just can't tell if any are London ones.
Someone at Yamaha uk needs to be introduced to the clue stick.

You can ride as many of the bikes as you wish. It was just that my local place don't have an R1 on test I think I'd defer the R6 ride if I could get a go on a latest R1. Maybe one day I'll be able to cost effectively insure one so would be good to know what I'm missing being 400cc less currently.
