Wasn't sure whether to post this in the sticky or not, but it seems like a bit of a stagnant topic so I thought I'd make a new one...

Annnyyyyyyyyyway, I'm soon turning 17 and want to get a 125 ASAP for getting to college and just generally getting around before I get a car.

I don't have a moped and haven't taken the CBT, so what's the deal? I know I need to get a CBT, then take my A2, and I'm sorted, but what's the procedure for getting to this point? Can you get bike lessons like you can cars, or is it easier to ride a bike than cars, and I should be able to take my A2 the day after my CBT (unlikely)? I'm really lost, but I want to get a bike soooooo much smile

Thanks in advance, and I think I have a couple more questions but I can't remember than right nowsmile

best to got to a recommended instructor and get advice. I can't comment on other ways to get your bike licence but i just asked a local instructor and did my written test. then booked up a DAS with CBT and the final test all in. you need the written and then just the CBT with would allow you to ride a 125 for 2 years. after that you need to redo your CBT or take the final test.

I think thats right

if not others will set you straight. hope that gets u started

Ah right, thanks.

So basically you did the written test, then did your CBT and DAS all in one day? Had you ever ridden a bike before?

Ah, much clearer, thanks. Sounds still a lot easier than cars though!

If i remember correctly CBT was quite easy, but exhausting as you have to concentrate.

Quick tip. Stretch your neck muscles well as you'll be looking over your shoulder a lot hehe

Hope this goes well for you Sharief.

To get on the road you will need to get your CBT which will allow you to ride around on a 15hp(?) 125 with L plates. To pass your test and get your licene you will need training, probably about 10-12 hours worth. Best contact a local training school, and I'd recommend you get the training done ASAP to avoid slipping into bad habits; plenty of time to do that once you've passed. wink
