Rattled this morning...
Discussion
Had the confidence knocked over the weekend, and couldn't face riding the bike.
My wife's best pal, a fun loving 41 year old lady, went out to a rugby match on her new SV650 on Saturday and didn't come back.
Don't have the details yet, but hope to see her boyfriend this evening and see how he's coping. I can't imagine how he's dealing with it.
Be careful out there people.

Sorry to hear about your loss.I've just become a CBT instructor,as soon as i hear about tragedies like this it makes me think if i really for one second stopped,in my working day,and thought of the 'huge' responsibility i'm taking on i'd probably collapse in a heap, once again,my thoughts are with her immediate family and friends.
Looks like there was a car involved, an Audi S3. Not that that means anything of course. Looks like she took avoiding action, left the road and hit a dry stone wall. Perhaps the car was overtaking something else coming towards her. The accident spot is notorious for near misses in this regard. No official explanation yet though, so it's only conjecture on my part.
It's heart rending. I pass the spot every day on the way to and from work. Really thinking hard about getting rid of the bike...

Mate, I feel for ya, I really do. I was gonna ask how your mate was, but a stupid question I guess. Not a lot more I can think to say really, apart from repeating how sorry I am to hear this. It's heart rending. I pass the spot every day on the way to and from work. Really thinking hard about getting rid of the bike...
Cheers.

as the other guys have said there isn't much that i can say apart from Really Sorry mate. It's heart rending. I pass the spot every day on the way to and from work. Really thinking hard about getting rid of the bike...
On the bike front, i wouldn't blame ya. But its all pretty raw at the moment mate so i wouldn't make any decisions either way at the mo...
Cheers for all the thoughtful comment.
It's just getting to be a lottery out there. Many car drivers these days are just so damn impatient, but worse than that, the car often becomes a weapon to intimidate and bully with. A bike is no match for a ton of metal.
Advanced training is an obvious answer. It would give me a skillset that I can build on to manage these threats. Is it enough though?
I think I need some time to cool down after losing a good friend.

Time is the key here, I think. Sure advanced training will reduce the chance of your making mistakes and increase your "road awareness" but it won't stop other road user's stupidity. It's a tough one mate, one that I've been thinking about quite a lot recently. But, 2 days on the train the other week, makes me wanna continue. Tough call mate...It's just getting to be a lottery out there.
